1. An Unkindness Of Ravens

An Unkindness of Ravens

She slowly approaches the bloody block;

Crowds of unforgiving people watch;

The ravens up above loudly squawk;

Giddy men in the crowd are drunk on scotch.

She gulped and kneeled, laying her head down;

Beads of sweat dripped from her golden hair;

The man swung his axe, blood trickling down her gown;

Suddenly, a tense silence filled the air.

Her head slowly rolled into a pit, eyes unblinking;

A group of ravens swooped down upon the head;

A woman in the crowd screamed without thinking;

People murmured, this girl was surely dead.

    Even though this sad event took place.

    The sun was shining on every person’s face.
