🐺Chapter Twelve Paige’s P.O.V.🐺

I can’t believe that my father was going to use them. I loved Xavier, but I have to go on with him, he is making me. He lead me out of yard and into the car.

“I want to talk.” He said when I got into the passenger seat. I looked over at him and nodded. “I don’t want you by that boy, he will only be here for a while and so don’t get attached to him or that girl.”

“I can’t.” I shook my head. “I… um.” I searched for the right words. “I admire him, and we are friends. He will suspect something is wrong.”

My father nodded and started the car. He drove away from where he was keeping Niomi and to our house. When he stopped it I quickly got out and ran over to Xavier’s house. I bolted through the door and found Xavier on the floor.

“Are you okay?” I asked, trying to sound oblivious to what was happening.

“No, just thinking.” He looked up at me. “Someone took her, they took Niomi.” He tried to show me the note, but I pushed it away from him.

I felt bad for him, so I created a plan. I was just going to give him small hint, while being safe about who it was, and it’ll lead him to the house.

“I saw a big black van leave your house earlier and go west.” I pointed out the front door and to the west, when it was actually to the north. His eyes followed my hand motions and when I was done he hopped up and ran out of the door.

I followed him out and watched him pass all of the different trees and stop. He seemed like he had sensed something to his right. Dang it, his wolf senses might be able to track some other wolves.

    “West right?” He yelled back.

“Yeah.” He looked over his shoulder and scanned my face.

“You’re lying, it went north. Do you know anything?” I shook my head and he left me standing there. He ran off to the north and it seemed as if he were following his ears.

I finally could move and I ran off after him. He stopped running right in front of the house where Niomi was. He tried the door, but my father had it locked.

Xavier got angry and kicked the door down. What surprised me was that it was an  empty room. We searched about and found nothing.

“But, I thought I could sense her here. Something is toying with my senses.” He clutched his head with his hands and started to whimper.

    “What?” I asked, getting worried.

“Gah! Ringing in my ears.” He yelled pacing around.

“Xavier, we need to calm down.” He looked over at me, huffed and took giant steps toward me. While he was walking toward me I took steps back so he backed me up against the wall.

Xavier raised his arm and it looked like he was going to hit me. I closed my eyes and waited for the impact. “Xavier!” A girl’s voice came from behind him. My eyes snapped open and I saw that there was nobody there.

“Niomi!” Xavier yelled, letting go of me and turning around. “Where are you?” Now my father was just playing with this poor boy’s head.

“Stop!” I yelled out of nowhere. “Just let him go! Let them go!” Xavier faced me and gave me a confused look.

“Why?” My father stepped into view, with his mask on.

I couldn’t say why, but I still blurted it out. “I love Xavier, and this is hurting me too!”

“You are a disgrace, daughter, you can never love a different person.” My father scoffed. That set me off.

“Just because you aren’t a human or a werewolf doesn’t mean I’m not one! I’m a human, you are something else!” I screamed back at my father. His eyes widened and now he got mad. I watched as he changed from his usual self to a disgusting monster, with weeds and muck coming out of his back.

“This is what I am! And you are one too!” He motioned for me to change but I couldn’t, I was a human. I glanced over at Xavier and burst out crying.

“Just try. For me.” Xavier asked. I nodded and thought hard.

I thought about the woods, and the nights, and the loneliness I got before Xavier and Niomi, and I also thought about how Xavier was different. Then I shut my eyes and felt different, I felt free. When I opened my eyes I was different, I looked up at Xavier and he was staring at me in awe.

Then I caught a glimpse of me in a broken mirror. I was a small arctic fox, with my bright blue eyes. My father was also in awe, and then he shifted back to his normal self. His clothes were in shreds, but weren’t damaged so he wasn’t naked.

“You aren’t a human….” My father began. “You’re one of them!” He yelled. “This is all of your fault Xavier, you changed my daughter, and she was supposed to become something like me!” He lashed out at Xavier and started to run at him.

I jumped in front of him and tripped him, and he landed on his face. Xavier looked down at me. He grinned at me and we both looked down at my father.

“I changed for the good father. Not because of him. Now show us where Niomi is.” I demanded. My father looked up at us and shook his head.

“I will never give you over Niomi, because I want this woods, and your house. So I can become rich.” Now my father sounded like a maniac.

We stared at him for a while trying to think of a plan, but the real Niomi's voice broke the silence.
