26. Chapter Twenty Five

Okay, guys, I know I have been so bad with updating this book. I have had writers block for literally only this book. There is supposed to be a fight, and it'll be the last fight for now, but the only problem: When I write a fight scene, I have to be angry, and I've been so happy these past few weeks, so I've been waiting for me to be angry, but I haven't been angry, at all. So, I'm going to attempt to write this the best I can. Hang in there with me.

Ashley's POV

From: Mike

So excited for the tour

To: Mike

Can't wait

From: Mike

Did you tell Ashley yet

To: Mike

Hell no she'll be pissed

From: Mike

Who cares I'm just excited for tour

I threw Ashton's phone on the bed, and stared at him. "What?" He asked, covering his chest with the blankets. "When were you going to tell me?" I asked. "Tell you what?" He asked. "Don't act as if you don't know!" I yelled. "I don't know what you're talking about, Ashley." He replied. "You're going back on tour, Ashton!" I yelled. He made a face, and got up.

"Okay, just listen." He said, putting his hand in front of him. "No, Ashton, I'm not listening. You promised me you would stay with us." I replied. "But this is what I do, Ashley. I love doing this." He replied. "I know that, Ashton. I know you love doing what you do, but what about your kids?" I asked. "I'll FaceTime." He replied. I huffed, and shook my head.

"Do you really think that will work?" I asked. "Um, yes?" He asked. I looked at him. "No." He shook his head. "Ashton, I'm not laughing at this. This is serious." I replied. "No it's not. How I think of it... I go on tour, living my dream, and you live yours as being a mum." He said. I scoffed, and walked away from him.

"Where are you going?" He asked. "Anywhere but here. You are not the same person I knew all those years ago. You're not the person who took on an eighteen year old with a daughter. You're not the person who bought me an apartment. Who stopped an entire show because the house was set on fire. I don't know who you are anymore." I replied, before walking out of the mansion.

I can't believe he thinks this isn't serious. He's going to America for six months, and hasn't told me. And he wasn't even planning on telling me. Our relationship doesn't revolve around secrets. It revolves around truth and honesty. Always had, and it still should. I'm the only loyal one it seems, and I don't know how much longer I can take of it.

"Ashley." Ashton said, running to me. "Don't, Ashton." I replied, walking away from him. "Hey." He said, taking my arm in his grasp. "Don't you dare touch me." I snapped at him, turning around. "I honestly don't see what the huge deal is." He said.

"The big deal is you're leaving me, after you said you wouldn't. After you said you loved me. After Henry's wedding, you stayed. You stayed, Ashton. And now you're going, because of a tour." I replied. "I thought you understood, Ashley. I'm doing everything for you, everything for the kids. Don't you see?" He asked. "No, I don't see. You're too caught up in all the lies." I replied.

"Lies?" He asked. "Yes, lies." I replied. "I never lied to you, Ashley." He laughed. "Fine, if you want to go on tour... then go." I replied. "Thank you." He sighed in relief. "But." I answered. "There's always a but." He groaned. "If you go... then I go too." I replied. "You want to come on tour? That can be arranged, we just need someone to watch the kids." He said. "No, Ashton. If you leave for tour, I take the kids, and go back to California. I'll send Lauren to you, and I'll take the kids and go." I replied.

"You're making me choose?" He asked. "Yes, Ashton! I'm making you choose. What do you want more? Me, or your career. If it's me, then you'll stay with me. If it's the career, then walk away." I said. He nodded, and backed away slowly. "If the woman I love makes me choose between the two things I love the most, then she doesn't deserve me." He said, before turning around fully.

I walked into the house dry tears covering my cheeks. With my luggage in both hands, I made my way to the bedroom, without Ashton. Without my husband.

"What's going on?" I asked, dropping my bags on the ground. "Mum, we didn't know you were coming home so soon." Jackie replied, putting the pillow down. "Well, things changed." I replied. "Why don't you go see what your sister is doing?" Calum asked. She nodded, and walked passed me.

"Where's Ashton?" Calum asked, getting off the bed. "Did you know?" I asked. "Know what?" He asked, turning his head. "Did you know you were going back on tour?" I asked. He sighed, and dropped his head. "Ashley, where's Ashton?" He asked again. "Still on Vacation." I replied. "Why?" He asked. "He chose his career over me." I replied.

"Can you leave me alone, please?" I asked. "Ashley, I don't think that's a good idea." He sighed. "Please. I just want to be alone." I replied. "Alright. I'll come check on you?" He asked. "Whatever." I replied, getting into bed.

Calum's POV

"Is she okay?" Michael asked. "I'm not sure. She said Ashton chose his career over her. I don't know what that means." I replied. "You idiot." Michael said. "What?" I asked. "She gave him a choice. Either her or us. He chose us. Over her." He replied. "Oh. Well... what do we do?" I asked. "The only thing we can do." He replied. "Which is?" I asked. "We let things play out." He answered, just as there was a knocking on the door.

"Can I help you?" I asked, opening the door. "Is Ashley Green here?" The man asked. "Yes, and who are you?" I asked. "Her divorce attorney. I'm here to confirm her papers." He replied. "Excuse me, what?" I asked. "She called me saying she needed divorce papers as soon as possible, and this is as soon as possible as I can get." He replied. "I'll.. go get her. Take a seat inside. Don't mind the mess." I said, running into the back of the house.

"Divorce papers?" I asked opening Ashley's door. "Yes, Calum. Divorce papers." She replied. "Ashley, you're crazy. You can't divorce Ashton. The headlines will be going crazy." I replied. "Calum, sometimes I have to take care of myself, than worry about others. Let there be headlines, I don't care. I come first." She replied, before walking out into the living room.

"What about Ashton? And the kids?" I asked. "Ashton said if I make him choose between the two things he loves the most, then I don't deserve him. As for the kids, he'll still have custody. They'll be with me weekdays, and with him on weekends. He'll be able to pick them up from school, and from daycare. He can see them whenever he wants. We just won't be married." She replied.

"Ms. Green?" The guy asked, as Ashley entered the living room. "Yes, you must be Mr. Harriet. Lovely to meet you." She smiled, before sitting down. "So, we have all the papers here for you, and all you have to do is read through them, and sign the bottom agreeing to the terms, and the rights. And then, we just have some marriage licenses to go through, which shouldn't take very long." He informed. Ashley nodded, and read over the packet of paper.

"So where is your husband?" The attorney asked. "He's still on vacation. I left him there." She replied. "Does he know about this divorce?" He asked. "Not that I know of." She replied. "Ms.Green, I would love to help you. But if your husband is not aware of you divorcing him, then I'm afraid that my help is not guaranteed here." He said, before packing his belongings up.

"That's bullshit." Ashley spat, as the door closed. "No it's not." I replied. "Don't you take Ashton's side." She said. "I'm not taking anyone's side. Ashley, did you ever think Ashton is doing what he does, because it's how he met you?" I asked. "That's crazy, Calum." She replied. "Is it?" I asked. "He doesn't love me anymore, and I'm not going to stick around to be burned." She replied. "Then don't. Then leave. Take your kids, and go." I replied.

Ashton's POV

"Please tell me she didn't go through with it?" I asked, dropping my bags in front of the door. "She didn't." Calum replied. "Where is she?" I asked. "She's gone." He replied. "What do you mean she's gone?" I asked. "She's. Gone. Left." He replied. "You let her leave!?" I yelled. "I had to!" He yelled back. "Where did she go?" I asked. "Back to California. Lauren is in her room. Took the kids and left. She said you can see them whenever you want, whenever you... and I quote, grow the balls to love her again." He said.

"Cal, you knew what that trip was for. You knew I was going to marry her. Again. I was going to propose, again, because we've been losing touch." I said. "I know, and I tried to make her stay when she was packing Bryant's clothes." He replied. I sighed and shook my head.

"Look, maybe some space is good for you. Maybe you need to be separated for a little, to come back to life." He said. "But I don't want to be separated." I replied. "Just try it. We're leaving in two weeks, and then we'll be in California. When we're there, visit her. Just like it was before the kids came along. Act like you did before. Pick her up from her house. Take her to starbucks. Do everything you did when you were dating." He replied. I nodded, and sat on the couch.

"Everything is going downhill." I sighed. He nodded, and sat next to me. "This new start is shitty." I groaned, before banging my head against the couch. "I hear you. Kyla hasn't reached out to me in weeks. Something I said pissed her off, so I left her alone. I'm feeling any day now, she'll call me, saying she misses me." He replied, getting up.

He came back with a case of beer, and vodka. He opened two beers, and passed me on. "Here's to shitty new starts." He said, clinking out glasses together. Here's to shitty new starts.
