20. Chapter 19 - Liftoff

After death, soareth high in the arms of an angeleth - William Blake

“4, 3, 2, 1, Liftoff” He shouted as we engaged the engine and started to move... slowly along the runway.

“Oh, and one more thing, this runway is actually the most eco friendly runway in the world, as we save fuel by accelerating the plane slowly over the course of 3 minutes and 84 seconds before finally taking off the ground.”

What he said appeared to be true, and also made the countdown he previously did incredibly pointless. So we all sat and waited as the plane started slowly inching forward.

All the previously exited passengers sighed, and settled back into their seats.

As we waited the 4 minutes and 24 seconds, we lifted off the ground, the pilot spoke again.

“Also, we will now have the onboard crew demonstrate where the emergency exits are, and what to do incase of an emergency.”

There was an approximately 30 second pause of nothing happening.

“On second thought, I’ve just been informed that we have no onboard staff, so I’ll leave the controls on autopilot and give the demonstration myself”

After this, there was another 30 second pause, there was yet another announcement.

“Ah, Yes, I’ve just been informed of two more things, one this plane doesn’t have an autopilot so it would be incredibly dangerous for me to leave my seat, and secondly this plane doesn’t have any emergency exits or procedures, so make of that what you will, and I’ll get this plane off the ground.”

Slowly, the plane lifted off the ground. We took off, and the flight had begun.
