6. cpobgr review #5 whisper- mirlotta

chocolate pudding or bitter gourd relief

review #5

"did you know that arthur conan doyle

theorized that jack the ripper

was actually female?"

the title: whisper

author: mirlotta

date published: 13 august 2015

rated: yellow

genre: romance

age: four months and four days old (as of 9th january 2016)

chapters: fourteen

status: in progress

blurb: //he had a smile on his face like the climax of a novel, and his kisses were the chorus to a treasured favourite song.\\
benedict has lived six months in a ragged half existence, torn apart after his twin brother's accident. still, when he meets whisper, the happy-go-lucky boy in the wheelchair who volunteers at his support group, benedict starts to realise that maybe it isn't totally impossible for him to begin enjoying life again. it's only after the two uncover some incriminating evidence that ben understands that his brother's car crash wasn't quite so accidental as he originally thought.

at first glance:

amazing cover by @violets. and the blurb brings my mind to sherlock. and the name benedict has instantly made me visualize him as cumberbatch. *sigh
the tag- #iswearitisn'ttwinscest (nice touch)

chapter one: six months previously
first chapter and i like it already. the twin attachment is really strong. and love the use of a cover at the end of the chapter. it brings an appeal to the story.

chapter two: no one

a justin beiber ringtone. a nice touch. and now with the arrival of whisper, i realize its a boyxboy story. never read one before, but it's nice. the build up to the introduction of whisper and how whisper was introduced in the chapter was really good.

chapter three: boyfriend
i love the fact that the title of this chapter has a dual meaning to it. one, leanne asking him to be her boyfriend. two, he might actually secretly want whisper as his boyfriend.
the phone call exchange (especially jack the ripper theory) was really funny and sweet. cute.
the end of the chapter was a twist to the story that got me curious.

chapter four: panic
the chapter, like all the other chapters, are really well written. and the flow of this one, and the panic- the helplessness- the suspicions- everything was well poured out. the feel of this chapter is a mix of the feelings mentioned above. i feel like the story's really building up.

chapter five: blush
it's just the right amount of romance, flirting, mystery, suspense and detective-ness ) can feel the story actually beginning.

over-all impression:

it's an amazing read. author, you're an amazing writer, you've only grown better over the years. i love that it's a romance suspense novel. i love that it doesn't have cliches. i love that the balance between the romance and the suspense is in the right kind of equilibrium. just lovely.

you're too good a writer for me to recommend anything. there are no flaws. beautiful.

verdict:  :-D a smiley, i give you  chocolate puddings
