3. Chapter 2

Summer's POV

"Would you guys knocked it off, your grossing me out."

"Yeah, seriously knock it off."

"We're just kissing."  said Ryan, pulling away from Paige.

"More like frenching."  I said.  Aidan burst out laughing.

"You know what, I can't wait for the two of you to start dating, so we can make fun of you guys for kissing in public."  said Paige.

"That's not a bad idea, what do you say Summer?"  asked Aidan winking at me.

I just smiled back at him and blushed a little.  Aidan Monroe had been my crush since 3rd grade and we've been friends since 9th grade, so I'm used to him making jokes like that.  I mean it's not like he'd ever be into me.

"Hey, we'd better go or we'll be late for practice."  said Ryan, getting up from the table.

"Yeah you're right.  See you guys later."  said Aidan, as they left.

When they were gone Paige turned to me to say, "So when are you going to ask Aidan out?  Cause that boy has got it bad for you."

I rolled my eyes at her, "Aidan only sees me as a friend, nothing else."

"Summer, I know these things, and he is definitely into you.  Has been since the 9th grade."

"You are so wrong."  I said, officially done with this conversation.

Aidan's POV

"So are you ever going to tell Summer that you like her?"  asked Ryan as we walked to field for football practice.

"Don't start with me, man"  I said, tired of the fight we always have.

"I don't get this, you like her, she likes you.  What is so hard about this?"

"How do you know she likes me?"  I asked.

"She has since the 3rd grade."

"She got over that a long time ago."

I had known about Summer's crush on me, but I never really paid much attention to it because honestly, I didn't really know her that well, she was so quiet and shy it was difficult to get to know her.  But freshmen year when Ryan and Paige started dating it all changed.  Summer had changed.  I saw her for who she really was, which was funny and beautiful.

One day when we were hanging out together I asked her about her crush on me and she said she had gotten over it and told me not to worry that she got over it.  After that I started dating Ally which was a horrible idea from the start.  Ally was mean, manipulative, and just a stone cold bitch, especially to Summer.  When I finally saw how mean and nasty she was to Summer I finally had enough and broke up with her.  She didn't take it well.

After that the only girl that I would actually date again would be Summer, because she's the only girl I actually like.  She's real and genuine and that's so hard to find in this school.  I really want to ask her out, but I just don't want her to say no to me.

"Earth to Aidan."  said Ryan, waving his hand in my face.

"Sorry, what?"

"I was saying that she may have told you that she's gotten over it, but she definitely hasn't."  he said.

"How do you know that?"

"Have you seen the way she blushes around you or how when we're all together she's always looking at you when you're not looking at her."

"I don't know, do you really think I should ask her out?"  I asked.

"Ask who out?"  asked Ally, coming up behind us.

"What do you want, Ally?  We've go football practice."  I said, annoyed with her already.

"I know the cheerleaders are practicing on the side of the football field today, so I'll get to see your practice.  And you'll get to see me when my short skirt."  she said.

"I could care less what you wear, you're hot Ally, but you're ugly on the inside and that's never going to change."  I said.

"Well, I guess you've got a thing for ugly girls like Summer then."  she said.

"Don't talk about Summer she's way, hotter than you'll ever be."  I said, walking away from her.

"We will be together again Aidan, count on it."  she called after me.
