4. Four - Don't Make Me Worry

Mark was sitting in his last class, social studies, which he had with Ken and Felix. Felix had seemed depressed as hell for the past week or so now. Mark felt bad for him because he had been shot down by Marzia. He didn’t mention it knowing it would upset him. Mark hadn’t been in the best of moods either, he just couldn’t take being ‘tutored’ by Jack anymore. Mark had decided earlier that he couldn’t take it any longer and had no way of contacting Jack so he just wasn’t going to go to Jack’s anymore… Not that Jack would even care.

“Have you talked to Ryan at all Jack?” Felix asked, no, begged.

“Nah, he hasn’t talked to any of us much since before you kissed Marzia.” Mark shrugged.

“Oh…” He slumped in his chair. Mark shrugged it off, not wanting to upset him anymore.

Mark let out a sigh as the final bell rang and he grabbed his stuff, packing up.

“Felix?” Mark said as the boy got up.

“Mmhm?” Felix murmured.

“Wanna come to my place and hang out? Like old times?” Mark smiled.

“You don’t have to if you don’t want to, I just really need some time to relax with someone, it’s been a stressful week.” Mark sighed.

“Sure, I need the same, my week’s been the same.” Felix agreed. Mark was so happy to be spending time with Felix again, they hadn’t hung out in forever.

The two boys walked back to Mark’s house together, once the boys got back to the house they just sat on Mark’s bed and talked while playing some video games on Mark’s PS4.

“So why has your week so bad?” Felix asked. Mark let out a soft sigh, pausing the game, he had to tell someone.

“Felix, nobody knows this… You have to swear on your life you won’t tell anybody.”

“If you won’t tell mine I won’t tell yours. Deal?” Felix replied.

“Deal, so… I have a crush on this guy, I’m bi, and I pretended to be shit at maths so he’d tutor me but all we do is fight! I wanted it to be like a romantic move but…” Mark groaned.

“Who is it?” Felix asked.

“Sean McLoughlin.” Mark sighed.

“Oh! He’s so nice and really cool once you get to know him. I met him when he first moved in.” Felix commented.

“He hates me!” Mark pouted.

“Don’t worry about that, he just acts like that because he doesn’t want to get hurt.”

“I’ll take your word for it…” Mark sighed, “Well, you know I kissed Marzia and she turned me down?” He asked.

“Er… I kinda found out, the more I thought about it that I wasn’t fighting for her but I was trying to impress Ryan… I’ve kinda fallen in love with him.” Felix sighed, “Love sucks man.”

“I feel ya’ Pewdie.” Mark closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath, “I feel ya’.”

Mark entered school the next morning, tired and melancholy, he just wanted to go home and play video games for hours. He, of course had math, of all classes first. As soon as he entered class Jack rushed up to him.

“Why didn’t ye come yesterday? I waited fur hours!” Jack questioned.

“I’m sick of trying to be taught by you cause all we do is fight and it stresses me out, Plus I didn’t think you’d care or even want me to… I don’t have any way to contact you either.” Mark shrugged trying to walk away but Jack wouldn’t let him.

“Phone.” He held his hand out, waiting. Mark rolled his eyes and handed him it. Jack tapped on the screen for a few moments before thrusting it back at Mark.

Mark looked down at his phone seeing Jack had put his number in it.

“Don’t make me worry Fischbach.”

“Hey Matt, have you seen Link?” Rhett asked his close friend Matthew.

“Nope, why?”

“We got in a fight on Tuesday and we haven’t talked since, I really miss him.” Rhett pouted.

“Awe, I’m sorry man… I’ll let him know you’re looking for him if I see him.” Matt looked up at his extremely tall friend.

“Thanks Santoro, I owe you.”

“No prob! You don’t owe me, it’s what friends do.”

Mark was waiting for Felix at lunch so he could tell him what had happened not that long ago. Felix entered with his hoodie on, shaking like crazy.

“Felix man, you alright?” Mark asked.

“I think I’m dying Mark, I cried so much last night I made myself sick.” Felix sniffed rubbing his sweatshirt sleeve under his nose.

“Let’s go talk on the roof.”

“So, why were you crying last night?” Mark asked the boy sitting beside him.

“Ryan told me he never wanted to talk to or see me ever again and blocked my number and every way I could get in contact with him.” Felix started crying softly.

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry Felix, why’d he say that?” Mark gasped in disbelief.

“I-I don’t know… I just feel so awful.” Felix rested his head on Mark’s shoulder.

“I feel so bad for you, you don’t deserve this.”

“Don’t worry about me Mark, you’ve got your own love-life to worry about.”

“Yeah…” Mark mumbled.

“What are you not telling me?” Felix looked over at the other boy crossing his arms.

“Well…” Mark sighed, “I got to maths today and Jack came up to me, I bailed on out session yesterday, so he was like, ‘Why’d ye not show up yesterday? I waited for hours.’ So I told him I was sick of arguing and didn’t think he even wanted me around.” Mark paused.

“Yeah?” Felix urged.

“Well, he had me give him my phone and he typed something in and handed it back. When I looked to see what it was, I saw it was his number… before walking away he said something to me and it’s been driving me nuts all day…” Mark stopped.

“What? What’d he say?” Felix begged for an answer.

“Don’t make me worry Fischbach…”
