5. Identity (A) 05/01

we are all different,
like colours dotted about a palette,
separated identities who
as a whole make
us -
society.

yet why do the colours
merge, forming abstract art on a
blank canvas morphing into
images that depict what we
want them to  -
not what they inevitably
desire to be?

what once was independent unity now
unites in similarities,
not those
implanted from the start
but those gained from
fear of losing
out,
from fear of not being who
we
want.

but why do we even
care?

why let ourselves create art,
relying on the colours of
someone else
when we can create something
just as good with our
own
vibrant
colours?

don't watch the rainbow that seeks
wealth in it's variety,
but seek the painting that holds
worth in just its
wondrous
designs,
not its
colourful
outlook.

we were all
made to be
different;
we can't afford to let other
colours
blend us into
something
we're not.
