The year is 2021, and a third World War is in full swing. A group of teenagers have been able to live in the country and escape most of the crazy war lifestyle. They reside in a large mansion owned by the King and Queen of the Republic of England. There's a school being run, and a lot of kids running around. There will be a turn in the war soon. It's going to be a revolt from the creatures most people don't even believe in.

2. A Beautiful Day

Riley closes her eyes and takes a deep breath of the fresh air. Living in the country has had its perks during the course of the war. She’s been able to avoid most of the heavy wartime lifestyle, and be able to enjoy most activities from before the war.

A gust of wind whips around Riley’s long brown hair, and a shiver runs through her small stature. Someone is watching her.

“You seem to be losing your touch, Lucas,” Riley slowly opens her amber- hazel eyes to reveal the bluish-silver haired boy mere centimeters from noses touching. “Something wrong?”

Lucas’s aquamarine blue eyes look over Riley’s face for a few seconds. “No, nothing’s wrong. Other than the fact that you are skipping lessons.” He takes a step back and straightens up so he can semi-tower over the girl in front of him.

“Excuse me,” Riley rolls her eyes. “It’s a nice day out, and England doesn’t get days like this all the time.”

“No need to get so defensive,” Lucas smirks, showing his elongated fangs. “Don’t make me bite into that pretty little neck of yours.” His eyes flash red as he tries hard to control the obvious bloodlust.

“Better hide those fangs, vampire,” Riley bursts out into laughter.

Lucas relaxes and his fangs shrink back up into his gums. The laughing girl making him forget about the smell of O-positive blood emanating from her.

“Now, do I really have to go inside?” Riley wipes a tear off her face. “No one could possibly care that I’m missing one day of lessons.”

“Why do you think I’m out here?” Lucas holds his hand out for Riley. “Come on. We can come back outside later.”

“Rooftop adventures tonight?”

“If I say yes, will you go inside? My skin is starting to burn,” he grimaces.

“What could we possibly be learning now?” Riley places her hand in the surprisingly warm one of her vampire friend.

“The past world wars, and how we really need to start treating Germany better.”

“Funny, but true,” Riley nods and looks up at the clear blue sky. “Come on, let’s head inside. Just a few more seconds out here and you’ll be chasing me. Scolding me to go inside on a rare, beautiful day.”

“You are such a whiner,” Lucas starts pulling Riley towards the country mansion. “Be happy we are even out here.”

“Oh, you don’t even know how happy I am.”

Bella watches as Riley and Lucas enter the makeshift classroom. There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that they have some sort of secret relationship going on.

“Nice of you to join us, Miss Lancaster,” Ms. Yui tenderly smiles at Riley as she sits down at her desk. “Is it nice outside?”

“So amazing,” Riley leans back in her chair and smirks.

“More amazing than my lessons? Right through the heart,” Ms. Yui teasingly places her hands over her heart and staggers.

“Of course not,” Riley chuckles. “Please, Ms. Yui, start one of your fantastic lessons.”

Ms. Yui nods and turns to the blackboard, diving right into a lesson on the past World Wars.

Bella zones out and begins writing down spells she remembers seeing some place. Her frizzy blonde hair falling into her face erratically, causing her to constantly push it behind her ears. To make it appear she’s paying attention, every now and again she flicks her emerald green eyes to the front of the classroom.

“If anyone can answer this next question, I’ll pull strings to let you eat outside,” Ms. Yui takes a seat on her desk. “Since Riley has confirmed how great it is outside,” she grins. “So, in what city was Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria assassinated? City, not country.”

All five students raise their hands, regardless if they actually know the answer. They will do anything to go outside. Even if it is only for forty-five minutes.

“Miss Myers,” Ms. Yui points at the girl with long, white hair.

“Sarajevo,” Paige smiles and flips some hair over her shoulder.

“You guys should thank Miss Myers a whole bunch, because that is the right answer.”

“Thanks a lot Paige,” Riley smiles. “Now I won’t get in trouble for being outside.”

Paige’s Nordic-blue eyes light up in gratitude as she nods at Riley. “I want to enjoy the sun as much as you. Soon enough, it’ll be winter.”

“Don’t even speak of that horrid time,” Riley giggles.

“Class is dismissed then,” Ms. Yui hops off her desk. “Have fun outside, kids.”

“Your girlfriend was right, Lucas, it is beautiful out here,” Daniel shoves some rice into his mouth with chopsticks.

“Riley is not my girlfriend,” Lucas shoves the boy. “Why can’t we just be friends?”

“Well, it might be because we are all seventeen and eighteen years old. Or, at least look that age,” Daniel grins and his rust-brown eyes flicker with teasing.

“You irritate me,” Lucas takes a sip of his blood wine. Not as good as human blood from the source, but it is blood all the same.

“That’s what best friends do,” Daniel runs a hand through his shaggy, brown hair. “So, are you enjoying this new lesson?”

Lucas shrugs, “I lived those wars, dude. It’s interesting to hear what people think happened. Not everything is resulted because of something a human did.”

“Like what?”

“Franz Ferdinand was killed by a vampire.”

“Then why do they say he was shot? Along with his wife?”

“Not everyone believes in, mythical creatures, as you call us. So they created that story as a cover up.”

“That’s crazy. It is beyond me why people can’t accept what is obviously real.”

Lucas shrugs and scoots father into the shade of the oak tree. “I really don’t care if people don’t believe. Non-believers are stupid anyways.”

“Like the adults that run this school? Even Ms. Yui?”

“Not Ms. Yui.”

“Students!” Ms. Yui shouts from the backdoor. “Lunch time is almost over. Please make your way inside in the next few minutes!”

And that is the first real chapter! I am thinking every chapter will have three time jumps, so that it's not too much but it is still quite a bit. Please leave your thoughts in the comments below, I'd love to know what you thought. And as always, I hope you liked it! :D
