My little monster

Haru Yoshida is a monster.
He spilt blood on his first day of elementary school.
Everyone was terrified of him, he didn't come to school for three years after that.
But if he did come back?
What then?

6. Chapter 5

The bell rang and everyone started to go home, but as usual, I stayed behind to study , and as usual, Haru stayed with me.

He looked longingly out of the window, watching many classmates walk out of the gates.

"They look like they're having fun." He said, not taking his eyes from the window, "I bet they go out for dinner or play dodgeball together."

He then looks at me, "I wish I got to do something..." He then lifts up the leaflet, and does puppy-dog eyes, "Come on Shizuku."

"I already said that I am not going!" I said sternly, "Midterms are coming up."

"It's not just about monja..." He stares at his feet, "Friends are supposed to hang out together, right?" He then sighs, "I want to go with you. Nobody else is willing to look me in the eye."

"That's because you're either glaring at them, threatening them or beating them up. Besides I don't have time to eat Monja, I didn't get the highest grade for the speech this term so I have to work hard to redeem myself."

"Oh." He looks down at my study paper, "First you find the coordinates for the intersection." He points at a diagram i had drawn. "And this answer is wrong. It should be b=4 not b=8..."

I remember now...

The first-year speaker...

'please step forward'

never showed up...

'Yoshida Haru'

"Oh Shizuku!" Haru steps out from behind the lockers, and people cower in fear. "Why did you go home without telling me yesterday?"

I look at him tiredly and slam my locker door, then walk off ignoring him completely.

"What?!" He whines.

"Sorry, but until midterms are over you're my enemy." I say swiftly,

I know it's mean, but it's the only solution.

"I need you to stop distracting me from my studies."

He stares at me blankly as I walk off, "Whats so special about studying? Every question has an answer how hard can it be?"

I turn around angrily, to see that he hasn't moved and still has the same blunt expression on his face.

He turns his head away from me in shame,

"You must really hate me..." He says sadly.

And I can't help but feel a little sad for him.

"Man seriously!" I yell to myself, kicking the fence angrily, "Why am I so upset?!" I suddenly realize how stupid, i'm acting. "I should study."

As I walk away I think to myself, 'I don't care, I should keep following that.'

But, as always, I don't get far, and am pulled into an alleyway by an unfamiliar hand.

 -Haru's POV-

I sat at my desk in class and looked to my left, Shizuku's seat was empty..

"Hey." I say to the girl sat in front of me, as soon as she heard me speak she bolted upright in fear.

Man, why do they always do that?

"Y-yes?" She said cautiously,

"Wheres Shizuku?"

She turned her head to face me slowly, "I-I don't know..."

Then the boy sat in the desk next to her turns his head and looks at me,

"Oh, I saw her a second ago!" He says cheerfully,

I stand up quickly making the girl jump and cower.

I need to find her.

-Back to Shizuku's POV-

I sat timidly on the gym step, surrounded by upperclassmen.

"Man, Why did you bring here here?" One of them asks his friend, jabbing a finger rudely in my direction. "Aren't you mad about that first-year beating us up?"

A couple of girls lean forward and talk to me, with kind voices.

"How adorable, Are you a first-year?"

"Want something to eat?"

I look over at the group of boys sat on the table, they're the ones Haru beat up for robbing him.

I interrupt their conversation by asking,

"Do you mind if i study?"

One of them looks at me funny, "Er, Go ahead."

So I grab out my textbook and notes and start studying.

Everything has gone wrong since he came into the picture.

I just want some peace and quiet.

To study-

Anddddddddddddd here comes Haru.

I sit up and look at the angry boy, who while opening the door, nearly ripped it of it's hinges.

I sigh, why does this always happen to me?

"Shizuku!"  He looks at me surprised, then turns to face the upperclassmen, "BASTARDS!" He yells, "WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER?!"

I grab my equipment and grab his sleeve, "Forget it. Lets go."

"I CAN'T LET THIS SLIDE!" He yells, pushing me out of the way, "I'M GOING TO KILL THEM!"

He growls angrily, and I try to stop him, "It's okay." But he won't listen to me, he keeps taking steps towards them,

"Stop it!" I yell desperately,

"SHUT UP!" He shouts and hits me in the face, making me fly into the wall with a nosebleed.

He starts to beat up the boys and one of the girls runs over to help me,

"Oh my god, are you okay?"

"I've had enough." I whisper, "We're finished!" I yell at Haru, and he stops instantly, gasping.

He stands and looks at me in surprise as I scold him,

"I'm sick of your friendship games!"

He looks hurt, but I carry on.

"Just disappear."

He looks like he's about to start crying and then stares at his feet.

"So that's how it is..."

I can't remember the last time i've seen him look this sad, but then again, i've never been so mean to say,

"Just disappear."
