Again Mickey pursued his man he ducked under the punches thrown by Seals and pounded the body of the American fighter forcing him back onto the ropes a left then a right had Seals in trouble and he had to cover up using the golden gloves to shield his face.

Mickey switched his attack to the rib cage of seals and played a tattoo of punches on his man until he managed to get away from the ropes.

Harry Carpenter was a loss for superlatives as he described how the Englishman was literally destroying the American with combination punching of the highest quality.

“They cannot keep this pace for fifteen rounds said Carpenter someone has got to give.

The bell sounded to end the second round.

In the next four rounds Mickey kept up the pressure on his man he never gave him a minute to settle and seals just couldn’t get his shots off quick enough. Mickey was fighting like a man possessed.

Round seven Mickey said to himself as he came out again and got straight into the attack two jabs from Seals were parried and then a murderous left hook bounced off the Americans jaw he lost control of his legs and fell into the corner.

Mickey ran to the neutral corner as Arthur Mercante began the count Seals mouth piece came out and landed on the canvas he groped with his gloved hand to put it back into his mouth but his co-ordination failed him Then he grabbed the rope to try to haul himself to his feet. The count was at eight at this point. Seals managed to get to his feet as Mercante asked him if he was able to continue. Seals nodded then the referee waved Mickey back in. A left, aright to the solar plexus and a left hook sent Seals down for a second time. He was out before hitting the canvas and his body slumped through the ropes and onto the time keepers table.

Arthur Mercante waved the fight over and Mickey fell to his knees. He had done it he’d defied his critics and all the doubters. He was World Champion. No one could ever take that away from him now.
