When Mickey arrived back at his B&B he was hungry it was now after twelve and he wondered if the land lady would cook him something.

He was out of luck; he found an all night café where he ate a full English breakfast and a pot of tea for less than ten bob. (50p). Once he had eaten his meal he returned to the B&B and lay on the bed and was out in ten minutes.

Britta hadn’t had a call from Mickey and she was worried; he nearly always called when he got back to England but this time he hadn’t and she wondered why.

The farm house was coming along now and everything was planted.’ Her father had restored the windmill and it was working perfectly; he had fitted a generator so that when the windmill went around it generated Electricity to light and heat the whole house. The generator was found in the old barn and had been left by Mr Baenen. It had been stripped down cleaned then put back together and it worked perfectly.

Britta spent her day weeding in the fields so that her carrot and parsnip crops could flourish. Dani came over to help her when she wasn’t working. Both Girls had finished doing their dissertations for their degrees. They would get their results by the end of June. Dani had a job lined up in Zaandijk for a firm of accountants once she had graduated.

Britta had said that she could come and stay in the converted barn which had been turned into a six bed roomed holiday let. Britta had already got orders for guests from Germany and Italy who wanted to come on a working holiday. They would help to harvest the fruit and vegetables but would pay for their stay. This was a bonus as the money accrued from the holiday lets this would give them an income to live off for the whole year. She couldn’t wait to tell Mickey when he got round to phoning her.

She had her parents and brother over last weekend for dinner as a thank you to them for all the hard work that they’d done.

“Her father said that it was a team effort as they sat around the wood burning stove drinking a glass of wine together. Baako played his acoustic guitar and they sang some traditional folk songs.

“The phone went and Britta jumped up to answer it; she wobbled a bit but kept her feet.

“Hallo’ Britta speaking?

“Hi darling, sorry this is the first chance that I’ve had to call you.’

“I’ve missed you so much Mickey; dad and all the family have worked really hard and the place looks marvellous.

“I had to go see my mother and father then there was the long drive I was so tired.

“My training is going well though.’
