There was three large glass fronted windows that looked out onto a river. There was an atrium that separated the two houses where Britta and Pieter had rooms. There were six bedrooms in all, with three guest rooms which Mickey was shown.

All the floors were made of wood and polished. Arjan had made bookshelves and glass cabinets on the wall and there was an oak staircase that led to the bedrooms.

The outside of the house was painted white and it had a grey tiled roof. There was a barn and then he saw the windmill in all its glory. You have a beautiful home Mr Larsen Mickey said as he sat at the large oak table.

“Please,’ call me Arjan

It was surprisingly warm considering it was November. There was a wood burning stove and a wood burning fire that heated the whole house as well as the water.

The more Mickey saw of the place the more he liked it.

For lunch Britta made scrambled eggs, spek, a cured bacon, and cheese, with a salad.

He asked Britta to come with him afterwards on her bike so that he could run his five miles.

There was no stairs or hills here so he ran faster to give himself a good work out.

Pieter hung a bag of grain up in the barn so that Mickey could punch it and there were some weights that Pieter let him use.

“When will you be fighting again asked Britta?

“Soon I hope’ I want to get at least another two fights this year; then next summer challenge for the British title. I made £800 from my last fight because it was a six round fight. So now I will box six rounds instead of four. Next year that will increase to ten rounds. If I fight for the British title, that will be over twelve rounds. Then we will be getting into the big money Britta.’

“How much would it cost to buy a decent house in Holland?’

“It would be around £50,000 in English money with farm land and live stock.

“I better start winning more fights then hadn’t I?’

Britta showed Mickey around the farm before dinner. Greta had made some snert a pea and bacon soup; then some Hutsport, which was mashed potato, carrots and onions with rookworst which was a spiced sausage. They had some gravy with it which Mickey liked. The latticed apple pie looked nice but Mickey abstained.

During dinner Mickey was asked about his boxing.

Arjan asked what he would do once he retired. “I would like to buy a house here in Holland with a small farm that we could make a living from and sustain ourselves.

“You say we, Mickey do you have plans for my daughter?

“Yes, of course we love each other and one day we plan to get married I hope.’

“Thanks for asking me said Britta.’
