Mickey waited until the next the following lunchtime before ringing Britta.

“He asked when she answered if she was alright. ’ No one has followed you have they?

“I’m fine Mickey, are you alright?’

Yes; is Dani with you?

“Yes she is staying over for a few days.’

“Good, do not go out alone just in case Worthington has sent someone to kidnap you both.’

“Do you think that he would do such a thing?

“Yes I do Britta; he is cold and calculating.’

“I’m scared Mickey, I wish you were here.’

“It won’t be for long Britta, we will be together I promise you.’

“I love you.’

“I love you too; I have to go I have a training session at the gym. I will phone you after my fight okay.’

“Okay bye; Britta hung up and told Dani what Mickey had told her.

Mickey went to the gym where Terry and Jimmy Tibbs were instructing another fighter. Mickey went to the changing room and got himself ready then he got into the ring and did six rounds of sparring with Clinton Mackenzie a good little light welterweight fighter. Then Jimmy put Mickey on the pads for another six hard rounds.

“Nothing wrong with you said jimmy you are as sharp as a dart.’

“Who is this guy I’m fighting?

“Tommy Armour from Belfast, he’s a handy little boxer but he shouldn’t give you too much trouble.’

Mickey was dripping with sweat so he wiped his brow then headed for the showers.’

“When he was finished he combed his hair then said goodbye to Terry and Jimmy before getting into his car and driving to the B&B that Terry had fixed him up with. He had stayed at Terry’s place last night and he’d booked in this afternoon. It wasn’t much but it was cheap and he could get some home cooked meals there.

The land lady Mrs Watson had a soft spot for him because she liked boxing. Her late husband Tommy was a lightweight.’

She made him the diet that he had to keep to and he always paid her a little extra.

He still had three hundred left from the prize money from his last fight he would be getting the same on Saturday so he looked forward to having a cushion so to speak money wise.
