Mickey told Terry everything that had happened; Terry said that he did well to get out of the way for a while. “Look Mickey I know someone who can take care of this for you.’ I will give him a call.’

Terry picked up the receiver and spoke briefly to someone who said that he would be around in ten minutes. Terry hung up the phone and then he went to make Mickey a cup of tea. “Have you got coffee Terry?

“Yes,’ if you would prefer coffee I will make you some. Terry boiled some milk then spooned in a heaped teaspoon of Nescafe into two cups.

“Do you take sugar?

“Yes thanks, two please.’

Terry had just handed Mickey his mug of coffee when the intercom sounded and terry pressed the buzzer to let him in. Terry went to the door and opened it as Dennis Lord and two huge men came down the corridor.

“Hi Den,’ said Terry come in mate.

“You two stay out here and don’t let anyone in.’

Terry went inside and closed the door behind him. Dennis Lord certainly had a presence about him he stood some six feet two and was heavy set. He had a scar over his left eye and Mickey guessed that he’d been a pug in his day.

Dennis Lord I would like you to meet my protégé Mickey Boom Boom McCabe.

Dennis shook Mickey’s hand

“I have been following your career closely he said. You had a good amateur record. Bad luck though that business with Mackintosh. Never mind I hear he’s gone pro’ now with Mickey Duff so you might get your revenge a third time.

“Now what can I do for you Terry?

“Young Mickey got involved with Nigel Worthington after his former team mate was beaten up during what he says was a set up.’

“I see and what happened?’

“Mickey and a squad paid Nigel a visit; I don’t think he or his buddies will be walking unaided.’

“I see, so the word is out on you correct?

“Yes Mr Lord.’

“I know Mr Worthington and he will not let this lie Mickey; he will want retribution and compensation for his injuries.’

“What can we do to make things right?

“Well leave that part to me.’

“How much is this going to cost me?

“Let’s say it’s a favour because Terry and I go way back.’

Dennis fastened his tanned cashmere coat and straightened his tie.

“He shook hanks with Terry and then again with Mickey before leaving.
