The three and a half hour journey ended at Kings Cross Station then he took a cab to Margate.

“Where to Governor said the driver of the Hackney cab?

“Albert Mews, Victoria Road do you know it?’

Driving though the city Mickey looked out at the mass of Asian and Jamaicans walking around. They had huge ghetto blasters on there shoulders as they casually walked in groups of four or five. The dreadlocks pushed under woollen hats of yellow red and green.

Stopping at a set of traffic lights Mickey heard the sounds of Bob Marley and the Wailers ringing out.’

“Fuckin’ jungle bunny’s said the cab driver; think they bloody owned the fuckin’ place they do, he said in his cockney twang.

Mickey ignored the racial comments and continued to stare out of the window

“What brings you to London then governor?

“I’m fighting on a show later this week.’

“You a boxer then eh.’

“Sort of, I made my debut here last week.’

“What’s your name then?

“Mickey McCabe.’

“Never heard of you mate; did you win then last week?

“Yes; in the first round.’

“You must be a bit of a banger then eh?

“Yes you could say that.’

Where are you fighting then?

“South end on Saturday night.’

“Who are you up against then?

“I don’t know and don’t care really; I’ll fight anyone that they put in front of me.’

“Well good luck said the driver as he pulled into Victoria Road and stopped outside of Albert Mews. Mickey paid him then grabbed his stuff.

He looked around then rang the buzzer to an intercom to the apartment.

There was a click then he heard his manager’s voice.

“It’s Me Mickey McCabe.’

“Hey Mickey my son what brings you down this neck of the woods so soon I wasn’t expecting you until Friday; just push when you hear the buzzer.’

Mickey waited then he heard the buzz then pushed open the door and headed up the stairs to the seventh floor.

Terry Lawless his manager was waiting outside the open door as he came up.

Nice to see you Mickey what can I do for you?
