2. Chapter 2 Telling Theo

Chapter 2

For a couple of minutes all we did was just sit there. Theo kept on wringing his hands waiting for me to start talking. "What was in your nightmare?" Theo said quietly.

I swallowed. "I was in a warehouse with boxes surrounding me. I heard screaming so I walked towards it and I hid behind a shelf." I whispered.

"What happened next?" Theo said with tears in his eyes.

The tears went down my face. Theo grabbed my hand when he saw the tears.

"Excuse me? Are you kids alright?" A pretty, brown eyed waitress asked.

We both looked up at her and cleared out throats. "Yeah, just some stuff going on." Theo answered.

"Ok. Would you kiddos like anything to drink?" The waitress asked.

I cleared my throat. "Yes, thank you. I would like a medium mocha frappe, please."

She nodded and wrote it down. "I just want some coffee."

She wrote it down and said," Ok. I will have those out in a jiffy."

I nodded and Theo said," Thank you."

Theo looked back over at me and squeezed my hand. "I know you don't want to tell me but I need to know what happened."

"Theo..." I said desperately.

"Please! I just need to know." Theo exclaimed.

I sighed. "I saw the killer. He had a mask on, just like the drawing that you saw. He had a knife in his hand. The knife looked like one of those really big kitchen knifes. He... he was..."

"Stabbing her." Theo stepped in.

I swallowed and said," Yeah. That was pretty much all I saw."

Theo looked skeptical. "Really? Nothing else?" I shook my head and he sighed. "How do I know I can trust you?"

I looked at him shocked and said," Are you serious? If it was me I wouldn't be telling you all of this stuff. I don't want you to get nightmares from it."

"Ok. I get your point. But if you were the killer then you would also want me to feel sorry that you are crying."

I looked at him like he was stupid and crazy. "Ok." Theo held his hand up in mock surrender.

"How did you know about the mask?" I asked hesitantly.

"The killer left it there. They are looking for any marks but so far they haven't found any." Theo cleared his throat. "Why were you drawing that?"

"I honestly didn't even know I was drawing until I heard you gasp." I sniffled.

"Oh."

"Yeah." The waitress came over and set our drinks down. "Thank you." I said quietly.

The waitress smiled and said," Your welcome! And if you need anything just ask for me. My name is Katie."

Katie walked away. We both stared at our drinks awkwardly. Theo was still holding onto my hand. "We'll figure this out together. And we will try to figure out more about these dreams." I nodded.

"Yeah. I want that monster to be found. There might be books about this kind of stuff at the library.

He nodded and said, "Ok, do you want to go now?"

I shrugged. "Might as well. We got nothing else to do. Plus when I get home I will probably be grounded for walking out of school."

Theo smiled at that and said, "I don't know if I will get in trouble. After everything that's happened this week. My dad even told me if it was too much then to just leave."

"Ok, good. So it's settled then. We can go to the library without getting in trouble." I sighed in relief.

Theo smiled but it looked fake.  I was worried about him. I felt bad for him. He just lost his mom and he still has to go to school and deal with all of the dumbasses who just couldn't shut up about his mom. We both got up but then I realized I didn't have any money with me. "Shit, I don't have any money with me.." I said embarrassed.

"It's fine. I brought money with me." He answered.

"Ok, sorry. I will pay your back." I felt really bad. I hate when people pay for stuff for me.

"Don't worry about it."

"Ok." I finally agreed.

He went up to pay and I grabbed my coffee. Theo came back with a to go cup for his coffee and poured it in. Once he was done he looked up at me and smiled slightly. We walked to the door and he opened it for me. I blushed and walked through with him behind me. When I looked in the parking lot I saw some popular kids from school. Shit. What the hell were they doing here? School isn't out yet. "Come on," he grabbed onto my arm and pulled me towards his car, "let's get out of here before they notice us.

I nodded and we walked quickly to his car. When we both shut our doors I sighed in relief. It looked like nobody notice us. He turned on his car and drove. The radio was on the rock channel. Another you by Of Mice and Men came on. I smiled. I love this song. My head bobbed to the beat and my fingers tapped my legs.

Out of the corner of my eye Theo is smiling at me while still paying attention to the road. He parked the car in front of the library and shut off the car. "Ready?"

I nodded and said, "Yeah. Let's figure out what the hell is going on." He nodded and we both got out of the car. I heard the slam of the car doors closing and continued to walk to the door with Theo right behind me. He opened the door for me and I smiled at him gratefully. I sighed and breathed in the smell of book and dreams.

I love the smell of books. I opened my eyes when I realized they were closed and saw Theo staring at me. I could tell by his dark brown eyes that he was amused. My tongue stuck out at him before I even thought about it. Theo laughed and dragged me forward. We went to the nonfiction section and quickly found some books about dreams.

Most of them talked about the meaning of dreams, there was nothing that could help me. One book was dreaming the future. I picked it up and looked around for a table. A table was hiding behind a few bookshelves over and Theo followed me to it. My butt hit the cold seat and I felt the warmth from Theo's body right next to mine.

I opened the book and looked through the index. Theo leaned in towards me closely to look at the book and my face heated up. The Index  showed stuff about the meaning of future dreams, and whether or not it meant the person is like a witch or something. I rolled my eyes and continued to look through the index.

A couple hours later

I rubbed my eyes and sighed for the thousandth time since we started looking. School was out now and we still hadn't found anything. There was just nothing about dreaming about something that was happening at that exact moment. My eyes hurt from staring at the paper. Theo sighed and said, "We should probably leave and just come back tomorrow." I nodded and closed the books.

"Yeah, anyways I'm supposed to be home in like 10 minutes."

"Yeah, me too. My dad will get worried." We both stood up and put the book back in its rightful place. We walked out and the nice librarian waved at us. We both waved at her and said, "Bye." It was getting chilly out and I shivered. We hurried to his car and jumped in. I shivered again and Theo turned the heat up. It wasn't even that cold.

The heater slowly started to work and I relaxed into the seats. "So, umm..." Theo bit his lip and I looked at him questioningly. "Where do you live?"

"Oh, right sorry. The address is 249 NE Sacarella Road." I blushed embarrassedly as I told him. He nodded his head and turned left. Luckily my house was only 5 minutes away. Theo pulled in to my parking lot and parked the car. We both sat there for a second but I finally moved when I saw the window cover move on the inside. I rolled my eyes. My mom knows that it isn't Gen just because she knows what her car looks like.

"Thanks for the ride." I said as I opened the door.

"No problem." Theo smiled at me and got out of the car.

I shot him a confused look and grabbed my backpack.

"I'm gonna walk you up to your door." He answered my silent question.

"Oh, ok." I threw my backpack on and we walked to the front door. We stopped at the door and turned towards each other. "Well, thanks again." He nodded and smiled at me. "See you tomorrow?" I asked hesitantly.

"Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow." He answered. I smiled and opened the door. He started to walk back to his car and when he opened the door I said, "Bye.." and waved at him. He waved back and I closed the door.

I turned around and sighed when I saw the look on mom's face. She looked pissed off and ready to kill me. Shit!
