Poor Amber has been bullied for most of her life, but there's one boy who is the harshest of them all. Jake is controlled by his girlfriend, Courtney, to do anything she pleases. Emily is the best friend in love with the boy, Finn, in the bully group. Everyone is wearing a mask. Everyone is in disguise.

5. Plane Ride

*A Few Days Later*
"This really sucks," I say.
"Sitting by me is really that bad, huh?' Jake asks.
"No, the whole room arrangement thing. You're lucky. You live with Finn, so nothing is different. I'm fine with Emily in the same room as me, but not Courtney."
"You get your own room, right?'
"Well, there's only two rooms so Emily and I are sharing. It has bunks and I already called top bunk."
"You may never see Courtney if you're careful. She may hole up in her room the first few days. Then figure out her schedule and you'll be fine."
"How are you two doing?"
"She's pissed at me, and I'm pretty sure we're done."
I smile, "She's a bitch." Now I can make my move. "Once the plane is steady in the air, can you draw me a dragon?"
He smiles, "Sure. Like a full grown dragon?"
"Yeah. Oh, and have fire coming out of his mouth."
"Any other things you want on it?'
"No," I shake my head.
*A Few Hours Later*
"Explain Pokémon to me," Jakes is really taking his time on my dragon and he’s only halfway through.
"I'm a kid traveling around my, um, country. Catching Pokémon, battling others for money, and going around to gyms for badges," I'm playing Pokémon at the moment and that's the reason behind his question.
"I don't know. What's the point of all video games?"
"Good point."
"How's the dragon?"
"Coming along."
"Do you think you could teach me to skateboard?"
"Probably. Like when we get to Paris?"
"Um, yeah."
"We'll have to get you a skateboard, but I'd love to teach you. Courtney never wanted to learn."
"Forget her. She's no longer a part of your life." I'm taking her place.
~Emily's POV~
"Where do you work?' I ask Finn.
"At the mechanic shop downtown," Finn answers.
"So you're strong and really hands on?"
He chuckles, "You could say that."
"It is funny Courtney had to sit by some random person."
"She deserves it. There's no love in the relationship between her and Jake. She's only with him until she gets another guy hooked on her." Finn takes the conversation down a weird road.
"Why does Jake put up with her?"
"He doesn't anymore. At first I think he thought she was just going through a phase. Obviously she wasn't."
"Why doesn't he end it?"
"He tries, and she runs crying to her older brother. He threatens Jake. Jake doesn't want to get hurt."
"Poor boy."
"I know. It hurts me, as his best friend, to stand by and watch him be unhappy. Especially when I know he's in love with another girl."
"Don't tell him I told you, but he loves Amber."

“Wait. What?” I sputter out.
“Don’t say a word about this to either of them. But yeah, he loves Amber,” Jake says.
“Since when?”
“Ever since you guys started going to our school.”
“So four years ago.”
“Yup. He calls it love at first sight, but he couldn’t do anything about it because he’s been dating Courtney.”
“Even back then?”
“They weren’t really dating, but she always said he was hers.”
“He’s been hiding his feelings for Amber for four years. That’s crazy.
“It is. But I’m just glad he’s stopped bullying her.”
“Why did he do that?”
“At the beginning it was because he didn’t know how to show his feelings and he’s an idiot. Recently it was because Courtney told him to.”
“Why would she do that?”
“He wanted to break up with her and she wanted to know why. His explanation was he loved Amber.”
“So she wanted to make sure Amber hated Jake, but it didn’t work. Amber is seeming to like the new Jake.” Maybe he’s her crush. Maybe that’s why she wouldn’t tell me. It makes sense. A few weeks ago I’d hate the thought of them together. Now, it doesn’t bother me. “I think Amber has a crush on Jake.”
“You’re kidding.”
“No, but let’s let them work out their feelings. I’d rather them tell each other their feelings.”
“Sounds good to me.”
“So, now what do we talk about?” I look at Finn.
“Well, do you have a crush?” Finn looks at me.
“Um, yeah,” a small heat flutters to my cheeks.
“So do I. She’s really cute and goes to our school.”
“Oh, really?”
“Yeah. She lives in an apartment with her best friend. Oh, and she looks adorable when blushing. Plus, she once said that planes scare her. Even though she’s never been on one.”
“Sounds a lot like me. But, I bet she’s better than me to have grabbed your eye.”
He smirks, “She is you, stupid.”
“Oh, well my crush is very handsome and strong. Has the best laugh. Works at a car place. Goes to our school as well. Oh, and he lives with his best friend. Plus, he told me once that he doesn’t like seafood. Even though he’s never tried any.”
“I bet he’s perfect for you,” his smile is now gone. “I hope the two of you get together and are happy.”
I’m smiling now, “Me too. He’s sitting next to me and doesn’t realize his opportunity to ask me out right now.”
“Tricking the trickster,” his smile is back. “I’m taking you out to dinner the second we get used to the time difference.”
“Sounds lovely.” My life is a fairy tale right now, but I guess stranger things have happened.

Hope you liked it! Sorry if the spacing is weird, I don't know what happened. I think I fixed it though. So disregard that previous statement if it is. XD
