10. Stranger

*Thirty Minutes Later*
"Alright, here goes nothing," I place the last figurine in its place.
"Did it just click?" James asks.
"I think so," I feel around the box and my finger hits something. I pull on it and out comes another compartment.
"Surprise, another letter," Mason says.
I pick it up and quickly read it. 'Hello daughter. You did it, and I'm happy for you. Now all you have to do is email the email at the end of this letter and your past will come to you. -Mom'
"What does it say?" Kristy asks.
"I have to email this email and my past will come to me."
"You have to say where we live?" Alex asks.
"I assume. I'm doing it."
"Right now?" Lily asks.
"On the train ride home, I will. That way I have a lot of time to figure out what I want to say."
"It’s all working out for you," Laurel smiles. "Too bad we couldn't figure out your past right now."
"That would've been nice," Lily sighs.
"I'm just glad I'll be able to figure out my past soon," I smile.
*The Next Day-Afternoon*
"Trains are so cool," I smile and continue typing my letter.
"I love the noise of the wheels on the tracks," Kristy says.
"It’s very soothing," Mason says.
"The four seats with a table is nice," James says.
"It takes longer to get places, but there's not that much you can't do," I say.
"Yeah," Mason says. "Planes have so many restrictions."
"I guess in the future we'll have to take more trains," James says.
"Next summer we should go on a cruise," Kristy says.
"That would be nice," Lily and Lucy pop their heads up over their seats to look at us.
"We've got little snoopers," James chuckles.
"A cruise would he so nice," Lily says.
"It’s still just an idea," Kristy stresses.
"How's the email coming along?" Lucy asks.
I push a few more buttons before looking up at her. "It’s done," I smile.
*A Few Days Later*

The past few days have been spent unpacking and putting away all the things we sent home. It’s been pretty hectic, but now we can relax for one more day before going back to our normal lives.
This summer has been really amazing and I'm glad it all happened. Now all I want is for my past to come to me. There has been no response to my email and I am starting to worry. What if I never find out what my parents took from me?
"Rose? Ah, reading I see," Mason walks into our room.
"Not really. It’s more like I'm staring at this book thinking," I sigh.
"You really want to know about your past."
"I really do. It’s bugging me that I've heard nothing from anyone."
"Be patient. Something is bound to happen soon."
"I hope so. I can only be patient for so long. It is my past we're talking about."
"How about we go swimming to take your mind off things and make time go faster."
"Sounds good. We need to start talking about the animal shelter soon."
"We will in a few days. I promise. Now let's go swim."
*A Few Weeks Later*
"This is my favorite bookstore to come to," a girl says as she walks in with her group of friends.
I've been back to work for a few weeks now and I'm really happy. Its keeps my mind off of the fact that no one has come to me with my past. It makes no sense. Maybe they have to come from somewhere far away. Yeah, that's it.
"That book is so good," a girl's voice snaps me out of my trance.
"Oh, I read it a long time ago," yet another girl says.
"I've got my books," the girl who said this is her favorite bookstore speaks up again. "Let's pay and get onto the coffee shop."
Minutes later the girls are at the counter, have paid, and are out the door.
"Rose, you can go," Sara, my boss, exits her office.
"Are you sure?" I ask.
"Positive. Besides, Mason just called and wants you home."
"Ah, well, see you tomorrow Sara. Have a nice night."
"I will. You have a wonderful night."
"I most likely will." If my I get my memories back.
*A Few Hours Later*
"Dinner is ready!" I call out to the household. Mason wanted me home because James, Alex, and he are going to NYC for some training. They leave tomorrow morning and he wanted us to all be together before they leave.
"It smells so good," Lily hops up onto a barstool.
"That's Rose for you," Mason walks into the kitchen. "Makes the best meals."
"I just follow the cookbook recipe," I giggle. "But I'll take the compliment."
*Two Hours Later*

You are going down!" Alex yells.
"I don't think so!" I smile as I pass him in Mario Kart.
"It’s just a game, guys," Kristy sighs.
"Go Rose!" Lily shouts. "I have a bag of sour patch kids with my name on it if you win."
"I'll win, and I want some sour patch kids," I say.
"Fine, fine."
"I suck at this game," Laurel frowns.
"You're better than me," Lucy laughs. She comes over all the time now and is just like another part of the family.
"One more lap," Mason says.
"I'm gonna win," I smile even bigger. This is what I love. Everyone having fun and being together. Too bad we'll be broken up for a few weeks.
*The Next Day-Late Morning*
"We're going to miss you guys," I smile at James, Alex, and Mason. I can believe they have to leave.
"We're going to miss you girls," James says.
We spend the next few minutes hugging, kissing, and just trying to say goodbye. It’s hard when these are the boys who have given us everything the past few years.
Knock, knock, knock.
"Who could be at the door?" Laurel asks.
"Maybe it’s someone from one of the shelters," Kristy says.
"I'll open it," I walk the few feet to the front door and swing it open.
Standing on the other side is a man who looks like he just turned 20. He has a nice structured face; dark brown, kind of long, pushed up to the right, hair; brown eyes; looks to be pretty close to six feet tall.
"Hello, how may I help you?" I smile. I feel everyone crowd behind me to see this stranger.
"Are you Rose?"
"She is," Mason comes and stands next to me. "Why do you want to know?"
"Well, I'm Tommy. And I'm Rose's boyfriend. That is, before I lost her."

Dun, dun, dun! Haha. Talk about a plot twist. Hope you liked it! :D
