Chapter 5

~2 days later~

In the last two days, I've got to know Loki a lot better. He says Asgard is usually really boring, and Earth is much more entertaining. I have grown really strong feelings towards him. But how can I think that, when today is my wedding day?

I pull on the long white sleeves nervously, my heart is thumping so hard against my rib cage I think it might break. I take a deep breath and walk into the church, I watch as everyone stares at me with glossing eyes and half hearted smiles. I swallow hard, I shouldn't be doing this. I watch as Felix gives me a sly smirk. He knows what will happen if I refuse.

"If you don't marry me, I'll slit your brothers throat."

His words echoing in my brain. I can't lose my brother, he's the only family I've got left. I make it up to the front of the church and hesitantly stand next to Felix, the pastor enters and everyone sits, awaiting for the ceremony to begin.

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered together here, in the sight of God, and in the presence of these witnesses, to join together this man and this woman, in holy matrimony; which is an honorable estate, instituted by God, and signifying unto us the mystical union which exists between Yeshua Ha Mashiakh and his Church; The holy estate Yeshua adorned and beautified with his presence in Cana of Galilee. It is therefore not to be entered into unadvisedly, but reverently, discreetly, and in the eyes of God. Into this holy estate these two persons come now to be joined. If any here can show just cause why they may not lawfully be joined together, let them now speak, or else hereafter forever hold their peace." The pastor finishes and hands Felix my ring, MY RING!

"Felix, wilt thou have this woman to be thy wedded wife, to live together in the holy bonds of matrimony? Wilt thou love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health; and forsaking all others, keep thee only unto her so long as ye both shall live?"

"I do." Felix says, giving me a smirk.

Then the pastor turned to me.

"Eleanor, wilt thou have this man to be thy wedded husband, to live together in the holy bonds in of matrimony? Wilt thou love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health; and forsaking all others, keep thee only unto him so long as ye both shall live?" I glance around to all the happy faces, than finally my brother; his gaze a mixture of sadness and happiness. I can't lose him.

"I do." I mutter, looking down as Felix places the ring on my left hand. I do the same to his ring.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride." The pastor says, Felix leans in and plants a passionate kiss on my lips. I feel a wave of guilt wash over me as he pulls away. This is so wrong!

We both made a plan: I would stay with Abraham until his 16th birthday, which is in two weeks. And once he turns 16, I follow Felix and never return to Armidale, ever. I don't think I can do it. I can't leave the two people I love here! I watch as Felix rides the carriage away, people already starting to walk into their houses getting ready for the storm to approach. I race over to the cottage Mayor gave Loki. I knock on the wooden door rather quickly, my palms sweating with Anxiety. I hear footsteps near the door and the door swings open, showing Loki standing in front on me with a puzzled look.

"El, what's wrong?" Loki asks, shifting his weight to the other foot.

"Why aren't you with Felix?"

"Because I want you." I mutter, slamming my lips onto his.
