Friends Forever

Amber's best friend is Luke Hemmings from down the street. They have been super close since they can remember. She's going to make sure that his dreams come true. Even with some rough patches here and there.

*A Few Weeks Later*
"This is great Luke," I smile as I sit on his bed. "You finally making a video. I know you'll be great.”
"Yeah, sure. Whatever," Luke flashes me a quick smile before going back to tuning his guitar. "I guess this will be fun."
"Of course it will be! Have some faith, my Lucas."
"I've got a bit of faith, Amber. Alright?"
"What song are you singing?"
"Um, Please Don't Go by Mike Posner."
I nod, "Perfect. It'll be great. I love that song."
"I know. That's one of the reasons why I picked it."
After a few more minutes, he finally starts up the camera and is recording.
I lie back on his bed and close my eyes. The only way to really take in Luke's singing. He's how I have made it through. He is my ticket out of here. Reality and Australia.
The singing ends but I don't want to open my eyes. I don’t want to force myself back into reality.
"Amber?" Luke asks.
"Hm," I smile.
"That was fun. You were right. I will definitely be doing it again." The bed sinks down as I assume he takes a seat.
"Good. I think whoever stumbles across the video will like it too."
"I find it so cute you close your eyes when I sing."
"Well, I love it when you sing. This helps me focus on just the singing."
"What should my next song be? I'm on such a high. Maybe I could sing it next week. That's good distance right?"
"Yeah. Sure. Um, Jersey by Mayday Parade."
"That's a good song," his arms wrap around me. "What do you say we go down stairs and play some Fifa?"
"I'd say I'd love to," I slowly open my eyes. "In a few minutes. I like just laying here with you."
*A Week Later*
"Alright, so today is Jersey and tomorrow is Just the Way You Are?" I ask.
"Correct," Luke smiles over at me. "Have a good day at school today?"
"Small talk before you sing. All right. It was good. I talked to Calum again, and Michael alone. They want to get together and hang out. I was thinking this weekend or something. Go out to eat and just hang."
"Oh, well all right. Thanks for running it by me," he grumbles.
"I just did Lucas. Don't be an ass. Michael wants to make it up to being a dick to you for the past few years or whatever. Don't be pissed at me because I didn't run by a stupid little date thing by you."
"Amber, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to come off that way. I'm sorry. You stressed or something?"
"No, maybe. I don't know! I'm confused. It’s weird living with my best friend. This past month has been amazing. But we might be too close. Or not close enough. I'm just so confused," I close my eyes and bring my hands up to my face. "I just don't want you to hate me like my parents."
I'm tackled onto the bed. My hands pulled away from my face as Luke's eyes bore into mine. "I love you Amber. Like, more than a sister but less than a soul mate or lover or whatever. I could never hate you. You hear me?"
I smile, "I'm sorry then. For yelling."
He leans down and kisses my nose, "Don't stress love. Okay?"
"Okay," I nod.
"Now I'm gonna sing and you are going to close your eyes and be cute."
"Get off me ya big dork," I smile and push him off me. "And I love ya too Luke. I mean, we are best friends. It’s like, friendship love."
"Sounds about right," he grabs his guitar and sits back down in his office chair.
Just friendship love. That's all I feel for him. I think.
*That Saturday*
"This is going to be so much fun," I smile as I slide into the booth next to Luke. We are at a nice little restaurant so we can eat and get to know Michael and Calum.
"Sure," Luke gives Michael the death glare before grabbing my hand.
"Luke, don't be mean. Wipe that glare off your face," I try and pull my hand away but he tightens his grip.
"So Luke, Amber told me about how you're putting videos up on YouTube," Calum says. "They're really good."
"Thanks," Luke smiles a little.
"You think you'd want to form a band?" Michael asks.
"Um, maybe. You wouldn't want to form a band with me, would you?"
"I think it’s a great I idea," I smile.
"Hello, I'm Clarisse, I'll be your waitress today. Can I take your drink orders?" The lady who looks to mid-20s asks us.
We quickly order are drinks and then get back to talking.
"So, what do you say Luke?" Calum asks.
"About the whole band thing?" Luke asks to clarify.
"Yeah," Michael slightly smiles.
"I don't know," Luke looks at me.
"I think it’s a good idea," I sit up a little straighter. "Don't say no because of what you think could happening. All the bad things that might happen. Say yes for all the good memories you could make with these guys," I smile. "And me as well. By your side as you become famous."
"Like we could become famous," Michael snickers.
"Oh, don't be a downer. You never know what could happen."
"She's always looking on the bright side now a days," Luke says.
"Well, being sad about shit that's happened in the past is not how I want to live. Not anymore."
"Did something really bad happen?" Calum asks with genuine concern.
"Know me for a little longer and I'll let you know what happened."
"So, Luke, do you have an answer?" Michael asks.
"Um, oh what the hell. I'll say yes for Amber," Luke says.
"Really?" I smile and lean into him. "That's just what I wanted to hear."
"You know, you two look more like siblings than a couple," Michael says. "I'm sorry I made that comment at the mall."
"It’s fine. I kind if found it funny. No one has ever asked us if we are a couple," I push off Luke and sit back up. "It’s always how cute of twins we are."
"I never noticed how many similarities you two do have," Calum smiles. "Blonde hair, blue eyes, cute nose, nice lips, good cheekbones."
"Stop it Calum," I cover my cheeks. "Blushing," I giggle.
"She has curly hair though," Michael points out. "And is quite easily embarrassed."
"That is true," Luke says. "She is quite sensitive."
"Shut up," I slap his arm.
"Hey," Luke pouts.
"So, you're just best friends?" Calum asks.
"Yeah," I smile at him. "Since the very first day of school years and years ago. We've followed each other everywhere. Done almost everything together. Helped each other through everything."
"Lady Problems?" Michael smirks.
"Oh shut up," I roll my eyes.
Our waitress walks back over to take our orders just in time.

Sorry if it's a little short. Hope you liked it! :)
