16. Chapter 15

“I’ve told you, I don’t know anything useful” Suzanne cried out. She was a complete state, tied down to a wooden chair in Johnathon and Erebus’s kitchen, he face wet with tears and her eyes outlined red. She struggled frantically against the ropes that bound her completely in vain, even if she were strong enough to break free she wouldn’t be able to take a single step before Johnathon or Erebus restrained her. A part of her knew this, but in her panic all rationality was absent, and she kept on pulling against the rope.

“I think you’re lying though love” Erebus spoke up from the back of the room, searching through the draws for something. Suzanne sobbed, meeting Johnathon’s eyes with a pleading look, Johnathon just raised his eyebrows. “Found it!” Erebus exclaimed, holding up a small dagger proudly. Suzanne’s eyes widened, as she involuntarily leaned back. Erebus approached her, speaking as he did so, “Now I could kill you and not think twice about it, and I probably will, but first I want to get everything I can out of you. Every single piece of information, every fact, every rumour, everything. Do you understand?”

“Yes” Suzanne’s chest sunk.

“Good” Erebus knelt down beside her, “First question, what is it you want with me and Johnathon?”

“Nothing” Suzanne replied, sniffing.

“Now that’s obviously not true” Johnathon joined the conversation.

“I agree with Johnathon” Erebus nodded, raising the blade to Suzanne’s chest and making a small slit, as a result of this Suzanne let out a high pitched whimper, raising her head up.

“I don’t want anything with you,” she repeated her reply, “But my employer does”.

“Now we’re getting somewhere” Erebus jeered, “Who is your employer?” Suzanne shook her head, “Tell me!” Erebus demanded, making another cut. Suzanne wailed, but still didn’t utter a word.

“Eloise” Johnathon realised, “It must be Eloise. This was her getting in contact with us”.

“Is he correct?” Erebus checked with Suzanne, who gave a small nod. “Well…this changes things, doesn’t it?” He stood up and walked away to the corner of the room, and Johnathon followed after.

“First she breaks into our house, then she tries to kidnap us! Whatever next?” Johnathon spat, angry and on edge.

“It’s annoying yes, but this time we have the advantage. We’re one step ahead.” Erebus focused on the positive, “Now we have the girl, we can call a few of the shots”. Johnathon grinned, understanding completely. “Do you want to take the lead?” Erebus offered, handing him the dagger, Johnathon took it, walking over.

Cutting the ropes that bound Suzanne’s hands, but keeping her tied by the waist, he took her hand in his and forced her arm out. Erebus quickly restrained her free hand, just to be sure, and Johnathon moved the blade so it rested against her skin.

“What does Eloise want with us?” He spoke quietly.

“She wants to help you,” Suzanne answered him, “She wants to explain…” she stopped speaking suddenly, as if she was not allowed to continue for some reason.

“Explain what?” Johnathon pushed her for more details, he already knew she wanted to ‘explain’, as it had been written in the note. Suzanne shook her head, refusing to answer. Johnathon applied slightly more pressure onto the blade, so that it began to cut her skin, when Suzanne still did not speak, he changed the topic slightly. “What makes Eloise think we need help? I think me and Erebus are doing just fine”

“Look at you both,” Suzanne sat up, showing them her flushed cheeks, “You’re completely off the rails. Neither one of you have any control over yourselves…”

“Do we look like we care?” Johnathon interrupted her, shoving the dagger down on her arm so blood flowed out rapidly. Suzanne screamed, she not expected him to suddenly act out like that.

“No,” Suzanne shook her head quickly, “But then again, you can’t, can you?” It was Johnathon’s turn to be shocked. He sat back, moving the dagger to her throat.

“How do you know about that?” He kept his tone neutral to mask his emotion.

“Because, unlike you, I let Eloise explain” Suzanne announced. Johnathon tucked the dagger back in his pocket swiftly, even more confused than before.

“Elaborate” he ordered her.

“I used to be similar to you, I let my instinct rule me. Then I met Eloise, she told me everything, she introduced me to Kris…she changed my life forever. I owe her everything.” Suzanne did as she was told, but still left out any large details, much to Johnathon’s frustration.

“You’re not like me and Erebus, otherwise you would be able to break free from those ropes” Johnathon defied her, pointing out a flaw in her story.

“I’m not dark like you are…I’m something else” Suzanne explained.

“Elaborate” Johnathon commanded, but this time Suzanne didn’t follow his instructions.

“I’ve already said too much” she decided.

“You know what I think?” Erebus spoke up, “I think we’ve been too nice to you…we’ve been too soft,” he snatched the dagger from Johnathon and shoved it into the quad of her left leg, causing a huge scream to rip out of her mouth, “I think we need to start playing a little rougher”.

“I agree,” Johnathon joined in, taking the bloody dagger and raising it up high, “We’re hardly living up to our reputation, are we?” After this he quickly lowered it into her right quad, leaving it in there for a few seconds before taking it out, and repeating the gesture. Each time Suzanne would screech and bawl, but that didn’t stop him, he kept on going, giving her no time in between to catch her breath, only stopping when Erebus wanted a turn. If she wasn’t going to tell them anything, then they’d keep on trying to get her to talk until she bled to death.

“Stop, stop please!” Suzanne begged, “Please…I’ll do anything”.

“Anything, really?” Erebus rose up his hand as a sign for Johnathon to stop, “How about delivering a message?” Johnathon grinned, catching his gist, and Suzanne nodded eagerly.

“Yes, I can do that, what do you want her to know?” She was keen to obey.

“Tell her that though we are flattered by all the attention, we would rather she left us alone” Erebus began.

“And that we really don’t want her to interfere with our lives anymore” Johnathon continued.

“Make sure she’s aware that if she tries to make a move on us, the consequences will be sever” Erebus added.

“And finally, let her know that we’re happy just the way we are…and that we don’t need her help, nor want it.” Johnathon finished.

“Okay, I’ll do it, just let me go and I’ll find her and tell her all of this, you’ll never hear the name ‘Eloise’ again, I promise” Suzanne agreed. At her words, both Johnathon and Erebus erupted into laughter.

“I’m afraid there’s been a misunderstanding sweetheart,” Erebus smiled, “You see, this isn’t a spoken message”.

“What do you mean?” Suzanne whimpered, her eyes brimming with tears.

“Sometimes actions speak louder than words,” Johnathon reminded her, “And in this case, that is very true indeed.”

“I don’t understand…”

“We don’t need your lips!” Erebus cried, “All we need is your blood”.

And with that, Johnathon lunged the dagger into her heart, killing her quickly…she didn’t even have time to scream.

Looking down on her body, Erebus was satisfied.

“That should do it,” he shrugged, “I doubt she’ll continue to pester us now”.

“Yes, I think we made our requests very clear,” Johnathon couldn’t help but give a small smile, “Now come on, let’s clean this up, we don’t want to get blood on the carpet”.
