1. Prologue

I ran. I ran as fast as I could, not even bothering to stop and catch my breath. After all, this, to me, was a life or death a way. Behind me, I heard Erik yelling for us to quickly catch up to the cruise ship that was getting furthur and furthur away. I rolled my eyes, annoyed at him. Can’t he stop yelling? God, if he wants to catch up to the ship so badly, maybe he should run faster, fat ass.

“No! No! It’s leaving!” I heard Renee shout out from behind me.

At this point, I decided to give up and stop running. I stopped and rested my hands on my knees, out of breath. I look up and see that the cruise ship was getting furthur and furthur away, just like our chances of returning home.

“What the hell?!” Erik shouted and kicked the ground, frustrated.

“We wouldn’t be in this mess if you would have just hurried up!” Now Daren was yelling at him.

Erik whipped around to face him, the anger and frustration obvious on his face.

“What? Are you kidding me? We wouldn’t be late if you didn’t have to go for a toilet break!” he spat back. Ceasar stood between them before either one of them started to punch each other.

“Well sorry if I didn’t want to store toxins in my body!” Daren yelled back and by then, I honestly had had enough.

“Will you both shut up!” I shouted at them before either one of them could start arguing again. They both stopped death-staring at each other. Ceasar timidly faced me, looking afraid as if I was about to eat three of them. Honestly, I wish I could.

“Whoever’s fault it is, does it honestly matter anymore?” I continued, looking at both of them, an annoyed expression on my face.

“We’re stranded on an island with no money, no food and our bags are still on that cruise ship. God knows what island the ship is heading to now and honestly, I am this close to throwing both of you into the sea if you both don’t shut the hell up!”

That seemed to do the trick and they both shut their mouth from saying anything else.

Renee suddenly decided to be both of the boys and start arguing with me.

“Can you just stop being so uptight Hope?” she said to me, placing both her hands on her hips.

I’m not sure why I got pissed at her for saying that, but I did. I stood up straighter and walked towards her, looking her straight in the eye, as if I wanted a challenge.

“What?” I said, challenging her to repeat what she had just said, even though it was crystal clear to me.

“I said stop being so uptight!” she repeated and boy, did that rile me up.

Before I knew it, I started attacking her and pulling her hair.

At the same time, Erik and Daren started to argue again, with Ceaser in between, trying to stop them from accidentally killing one another. Their argument was drowned out by Renee’s pained screams and me continuing to pull her hair.

How did we end up like this, you ask? It started two days ago...
