I Don't Know Myself (m.c)

"I'm sorry".
"It's not your fault".
"I pushed you too far".
"Maybe, but this isn't who I am".
"I'll still love you".
"Good to know".

3. Chapter 3

Sophia's P.O.V

Could my mother really be alive ? Was Michael making it all up?

For some reason, I trusted Michael. A lot.

A few hours ago, he was a complete stranger. Even though I don't know much about him, he seems willing to open up to me.

I was willing to open up to him too.

We were still driving , the music quietly playing from the speakers, neither of talking.

Just enjoying the quietness.

I glanced over at Michael, who had his eyes on the road. His lips slightly opened, as he breathed.

He was very attractive, and he got more and more attractive every second I spent with him.

He turned his head towards me, a small smirk on his lips.

"Like what you see?". He teased.

"I-I um no. I mean yes. No! I'll just shut up now". I mumbled, embarrassed.

He let out a small chuckle, "It's okay Princess".

That name, gave me a small feeling in my stomach.

I smiled back at him.

"How much longer?". I asked.

"5 minutes". He replied.

"Until I see my mom? Does she know we're coming?".

"Not exactly. She knows this day was coming, I just don't think she expected it so soon".

I nodded my head.

I was going to see my mother.

What was she like? Would she be happy to see me? She abandoned me after all.

After 10 more minutes of comfortable silence, Michael turned into a small driveway.

A gray, two story house, with green shutters stood in front of us.

"This is it". Michael declared, while looking at me.

"What if she hates me?". I asked quietly.

"I doubt that. She'll definitely be surprised".

I nodded, pushing the door out and getting out of the car.

Michael was waiting for me, holding out his hand for me to take.

I took it, and it made me feel a little bit less nervous knowing he would be there with me.

We walked up to the white door, and Michael knocked three times.

A few seconds later, I heard the door open and I looked up to see the woman who was apparently my mother.

"Michael?". Her eyes open wide.

"Hi Lauren".

She looked over at me and quickly looked back to Michael.

"What are you doing here, and who's this ?". She asked.

"You knew thi-". Michael started to speak but I cut him off.

"Hi Mom".

I looked into her eyes, waiting for her to speak.

"Sophia". She breathed out.

She looked back to Michael.

"He's gone?". She whispered.

Michael let out a small nod.

"You knew it was going to happen someday".

I saw tears in her eyes, but she quickly wiped them away.

"Come in, both of you. Hurry".

I stepped inside first, and Michael followed.

I  was unsure of what to say and do.

Michael walked over to the couch and sat down, and I awkwardly followed.

My mother sat down across from us, with her head in her hands.

She looked up at me, "I need to talk to you. I understand you must be furious with me, for leaving you like I did. I couldn't live with your father when he was like that. It was a mistake, and I shouldn't have done it".

I nodded my head, wanting her to continue.

"You have to understand, your father was a very dangerous man. I loved him very much, but I couldn't raise you on my own. He had money, I didn't. You were better off with your father. But now that he's gone, you have Michael. He's a wonderful boy, and he will protect you no matter what. You need to go with him, and do what he says at all times".

"It's okay, I forgive you". I whispered.
