The story tells of a young coble fisherman Tom Lawson who is also a coxswain on the life boat Pegasus in Cullercoats. His father drowned saving the life of a little girl and he wants to follow in his father's footsteps. the story is set in the early fifties a time of sexual revolution and rock and roll. Tom meets Eva a girl who wants the best- brought up on Howdon road she dreams of a better life. She works as a packer at Tyne Brand on North Shields Fish Quay- Tom the handsome Teddy boy with his drapes and crepe shoes charms the young Eva - they end up getting married but things don't run smoothly for the couple who have a son together but he is be-felled with a fever which leaves him unable to hear. This is a story of love-of heartache-and triumph over adversity. This is a story to warm your heart and one i'm sure that you will enjoy.

The sounds of music, screaming, and flashing lights were all around as Tom walked with Eva around the hoppings. They visited the circus, the helter skelter; they took a ride on the waltzer. Then Tom won her three gold fish and a cuddly toy. They walked around the 30 acre site until they came to Ron Taylors boxing and wrestling booth.

“Come on, let’s have a look in here he said as he took her by the hand.

He paid the entry fee then took a seat near the front where two men were wrestling.

“I’ve always wanted to have a go at that said Tom as the two men grappled in the centre of the ring.’

The bell sounded and then Richard Langan got into the ring and announced the winner.

“Right do we have any brave lads out there who fancy having a go in the ring with one of our wrestlers?

“Eva put up her hand then pointed to Tom.’

“Fantastic said Richard come up here son, but take off those wellington boots.’

“What did you do that for said Tom?

“Well you said…

Tom took off the boots then stepped under the ropes. The crowd all cheered so he put both arms in the air.

“What’s your name son and where are you from?’

“Tom Lawson from Cullercoats.’

Ladies and Gentlemen in this corner we have Tiger Tom Lawson from Cullercoats.’ again there was a massive cheer.

And in the blue corner we have our resident wrestler “Drop kick Dennis” Lord of the Ring.’

The boo’s went up as “Drop Kick took off his robe and stood proudly looking at his opponent.

 The two men were called to the centre of the ring where the referee gave them instructions.

“Dennis turned to Tom and said “just take it easy kid, no one is going to get hurt”

The bell sounded and Tom took up his wrestlers pose as the circled each other then Dennis got a grip of Toms arm and then got him in a headlock; the crowd were booing as Dennis ran Tom into the corner post.

Oooh the crowd went as Toms head crashed against the post; he was seeing stars for a second but then recovered. Again the two men moved around looking for an opening and this time it was Tom who went in and got a leg hold forcing his man to the canvas.

“He also got Dennis in a headlock with his feet; tighter and tighter he squeezed until Dennis managed to free himself and got Tom in a half Nelson. Tom dropped to his
