But who?

15. Sarah Returns

Morgan and Sarah stood at the other end of the room, their swords drawn.

"Jamboga, how could you?" Morgan asked. Her gaze was on Jamboga, but it was hard to take her eyes off the corpses that littered the floor. She knew this may be the last time she'd ever see them.

Jamboga immediately fired a blast of lightning. However, Sarah grounded the blast with her sword, remembering the tactic Morgan had used against her an hour ago.

Morgan spun around and attempted to slash Jamboga in mid-strike. However, he blocked with one hand and turned his head; this caused him to break contact and cease fire.

Morgan broke the subsequent blade-lock and raised her blade. Both opponents brought their weapons down and engaged each other. Morgan rained down quickly and roughly, but Jamboga maintained a one-handed grip on his weapon, effortlessly warding off the barrage of attacks.

Finally, they broke away. Morgan took another step back and slashed a power cable connected to the local control panel as she raised her blade into a high guard. This caused a short circuit that briefly caused the room lights to flicker. As the chamber dimmed, Morgan grinned. "Light show!"

"Morgan!" Sarah snapped angrily. Morgan shot her a glance of mock offense, and the two advanced on each other. As they stared at one another, blades at the ready, Morgan attacked. The two engaged in a flurry of swordplay, seemingly equally matched.

As Morgan and Jamboga clashed, Sarah left to reactivate the lights. After wandering through a hallway, she came across a gas chamber. She used her telekinesis to deactivate it before stepping through it. On the other side, she used a code to bypass the blast door before her and stepped inside. There, she began to toggle with the controls on a panel in the middle of the room.

The first switch projected a shield around her and the control panel. Angrily, she turned it off. What button is it, then? She began to briefly scan the panel until she located one. I think this is it... She pushed it roughly. This one revealed Jamboga dueling Morgan via hologram. Dang it! Gritting her teeth, she turned it off. She saw a button whose yellow color rendered it unmistakable. She reached over and pushed it.

The clash between Morgan and Jamboga continued. Morgan parried another blow, then stepped back. She then thrusted her sword into Jamboga's defenses, seizing the offensive. However, Jamboga easily fended off her blows before knocking Morgan aside with a heavy backhand. Morgan backed away, warding off another strike. Jamboga attacked, but Morgan was ready and brought them into a blade-lock. During the lock, the light suddenly turned on again. Morgan looked up briefly, broke the lock, and once again attempted to gain the offensive. However, Jamboga parried the attack, and before she knew it Jamboga's elegant bladework forced her into retreat.

Jamboga quickly seized the offensive, his precise bladework wearing away at Morgan's defense. Despite the energy efficiency of Morgan's defense, Jamboga's precision was so great that most of her defensive slashes missed his blade entirely, forcing her to awkwardly scramble to fend off Jamboga's attacks. Her exhaustion started to tell through her panting. His every move was precise and elegant; his blade seemed to be everywhere. Straining to keep up, Morgan eventually backed away quickly.

"Can we take a break?" she asked.

"What?" Jamboga replied.

"Just relax for a--"

Jamboga wouldn't buy it. He quickly jabbed at Morgan's shoulder, cutting it across the side. As Morgan fell back in pain, Jamboga stayed on her, slashing the Super across the leg and bringing her down. Jamboga raised his blade and ran her through. Morgan was dead.

Outraged, Sarah entered the room. Jamboga turned and regarded her. "Ooh, looks like my steel toolbox comes to challenge me," he said. He noted Sarah's furious and clenched fists, and he grinned. "This should make things more interesting."
