Do Over (Book Three)

Book 3 in the Knowing Them Series.

6. Chapter Five -

The substitute Madame Pomfrey was right about the whole letting go of one of them thing. I'll be the first to admit it but, I just didn't know who I was ready to let go of. I think Remus has always been the one. The one, but Sirius is so much more understanding about what had to happen in order for me to stay in the school. Then again, he knew the whole time. Remus had no clue I was still alive, let alone that I had told someone other than him about being alive.  Why did I have to get myself into these situations? This whole year has been this way, though I don't really like to talk about it.

I corner Remus in the common room after his daily library visit.

I sigh, "I wanted to ask you something but, also apologize too."

"What's wrong?" he asks, putting is books on the staircase.

"Would you want to, maybe, metaphorically, consider," I took a deep breath, "try us again?" I bit my lip as he blinked. His rapid blinking made me think he was going to pass out.

He swallowed, "Let me think about it." His face was unreadable.

I nodded, "Okay." I smile briefly and walk to the fire place. My hands are as cold as the snow on the highest mountain. The fire feels fantastic on them. Remus' feet begin to ascend the stairs. I follow the noise carefully until I hear the dormitory door open and close. Once I know it is safe, I put my head in my hands and just sit there. It was only for a few minutes but, it was completely silent. Not even the fire made a crackling noise.

The brief moment of silence was interrupted by the sudden slamming of a dormitory door and feet pounding down the stairs. I whipped around, a breathless Remus was at the bottom of the stairs, "What's wrong?" I question, concerned. He doesn't say.

He looks at me for a moment before walking- almost running- to me.  He grabbed my face in his hands and, before I could completely grasp what was happening, he kissed me.

"I've missed you so much," he started, "can we have a do over."

I nod, "I've been wanting one," I pause briefly, "I was just too afraid to ask."

"Well, let's start over."

I nod my head rapidly, ready to start again.

A/N: Sorry it has been so long, I'm really trying to make this good, it is just very hard. I love my character and I love this story, I just don't know what else to do. I'm going to keep thinking though, I'm not giving up that easy. This doesn't necessarily mean it isn't on hold, I just felt like i needed to give you guys something, considering my last update was January 20th. xoNat

Also, this is a repost from my Wattpad, so almost every one of the chapters has little notes at the bottom that may not make sense, so just ignore them until I finish it and post an author's note. thnks xo nat
