I wake up to the smell of coffee, and...maple syrup? I remember that I stayed the night at Anthony’s. Mack is nowhere to be found in the room. I walk into the guest bathroom, and clean up a bit so I don’t look too crappy. When I feel satisfied with how I look, I make my way into the kitchen, where I find Anthony making pancakes.
“Good morning,” he says when he realizes I’m in the room.
“Good morning. So whatcha making?” I climb onto a seat at the counter.
“Well, I am making pancakes, eggs, bacon, and homemade syrup. I also let Mack out when I woke up, so he’s good.” I smile and thank him.
After we finish eating, Anthony drives Mack and I back home at about 10:30am.
“Thanks, Anthony. I had a great time. And I’m sorry for the whole bad dream thing.”
He smiles as I climb out of the car, “No problem Alex. It’s okay. And if you need anything, just call me, okay?”
“Thanks Anthony. I’ll talk to you later.” I close the door and make my way back to the apartment. I open the front door to find the apartment dark and quiet. Mack comes in behind me and goes to lie down. I turn on a few lights and walk into the kitchen. There I find a note.
‘Alex, I am at Smosh HQ for the day shooting and editing so I will be home late. There’s nothing in the fridge so here’s an extra $20 if you need it for take out or something. I don’t know where Victoria is she has been gone since last night. She left a little after you did. Anyway, the place is yours! -Mari'
I glance to the left of the note to find a twenty-dollar bill to use for food.
“What should I do today?” I ask aloud to myself.
I know Alex left sometime last night, but she didn’t say where. I left about thirty minutes after her to hang out with Ian. We watched movies, played games, and talked a lot. It got late so I stayed the night, in a different room, of course. Today Ian had to film Smosh videos so I tagged along. They were shooting a Smosh sketch. There were other people filming videos at the same time so I decided to watch Noah shooting a 'Put It In My Mouth' video. They made him eat kangaroo burgers which was hilarious. After a full day of making videos, one of the people from the film crew went out and got food for everyone. Joven brought a camera and filmed a lunchtime. We all had Wendy’s and played a few trivia games.
Afterwards, at about 3:30pm, Ian took the liberty of driving me home.
“Thank you, Ian. You didn’t have to do this. I could have taken the bus, it’s okay.” I say as Ian approaches my street in his blue Subaru. Before Ian could reply, we were being thrown across the pavement. Everything was spinning and I was too in shock to scream or do anything for that matter. Everything came to an immediate halt and my head slammed into the dash. My sight became blurry and my ears were piercing. I look to Ian, my head spinning, he seems to be fine but he is trying to talk to me. I can’t hear him though. I felt weak, so I rested my head against my seat and I slipped into darkness.
Mack is laying beside me as I eat my all cheese, white sauce pizza I bought with the $20. I am watching 'We’re the Miller’s.' I am about halfway through when I get a phone call from an unknown number.
I answer my phone cautiously, “Hello?”
“Hello. Is this Alex?”
“Yes it is. May I help you?”
“Hi, this is Dr. Bates from Mercy San Juan Hospital. I'm calling to inform you that your friend, Victoria, has gotten into a severe car accident earlier this afternoon. She has several injuries, both internal and external. She will go into surgery in a while, and she was able to inform us to contact you to be there for her before she lost consciousness. I’m sorry.”
“Uh...thank you, I will be right there.” I hang up the phone and just sit there and my mouth drops. After sitting there for a few minutes I get dressed and ready as fast as I can. I also grab a few clothes and things for Victoria just in case. I leave Mack in my room, hop in the car, and drive as fast as I possibly can to the hospital.
