violets are blue
there was a boquet of sun-kissed violets on the table, and Danila's mum had her hair piled above her in an eccentric knot. she was shouting at everyone something about keeping quiet and being nice to the neighbours, and Danila was drinking beer in the toilet because his mum would find him anywhere else.
me, Jasmine, Rae, Rory and Stefan were in his bedroom. Rory was going through Danila's underwear drawer, and his twinkly blue eyes were sparkling as he commented something about something else that didn't matter.
Danila's parents were going to Russia for a family crisis near Moscow, and Danila was being left alone in the house, under strict instructions. of course, every rule was made to be broken, which was the exact policy Danila lived by. the weekend was going to be a hell of a lot of fun.
isabela had begged me to come, but i said she was too young and i laughed at her, because she wouldn't be drinking and having fun - instead she'd be at home reading a book and wishing she was with me. but little sisters don't come to big sister's parties.
Danila came out of the toilet, and tipped the dregs of his beer over Rory's head. Rae tipped her head back and laughed like diamonds, whilst Jasmine and I curled up together on the mattress, going through some shitty magazine about this season's must-haves.
Rae has always been the girl who gets the guy: soft, dark hair, long down her back, bright, sparkling blue eyes like a monsoon and smooth skin. she is the prettiest, and not always the nicest. her sharp tongue is the messenger of sly letters and spite, and although her laugh is to die for, who knows who she kills for it?
Jasmine and I wouldn't be without her, though. She's the third musketeer, the third blind mouse, the finishing touch to our triad, our triplet.
Danila is the daredevil, the pranker, the one with the wicked smile but the soft, melty heart. He's from Moscow, and he has so many white lies to tell us all.
Rory has the brightest smile, and the least to say. He's scatter-brained, dreamy, looking out the window to see planets even in broad daylight. We love his lemon blonde hair and twinkling sea green eyes even on the worst of days.
Stefan is chocote haired and chocolate eyed, and stands on the edge of the room at a party, but still manages to be the centre of attention. He completes the group - a final puzzle piece, a final bead, a final loop in the chain with a chink.
that day was the final day we had together, before Isabela was lost.
