I sat, chest fur puffed out, and then I thought of Snowfall. 'It's all my fault!' I realized, padding forwards to her. She lay, eerily silent. 'I didn't guard her when I needed to.' I mourned silently. 'I'm so sorry Snowfall!' I yelled in my head. I lay and put my nose in her fur, and I lay like that until the elders came to bury her. I followed them, and dug the hole while they held Snowfall. I helped lay her down in there, and realized tears were falling from me. " Young un', I'll take you back." One of the elders, Firerose, meowed. I followed her to the apprentices den, and meowed, "Thank you." and I curled into one of the nests. "Where were you?" Goldpaw, a pale blonde she-cat with golden paws meowed. "I was helping the elders bury Snowfall." "I'm sorry." Goldpaw nodded and fell asleep. I looked up, out into the stars, to see a new white one twinkling back at me.
