It was 3:35. I've been panicking for the past 300 seconds, and it's like Greg is doing this because he knows I'm freaking out.
Before I knew it, I drifted off into a deep sleep. And then, I was being shook awake.
"Gracie? Grace. I need you to wake up hon. Please, Grace? This is important sweetheart," Fleur sounded frazzled, and as I looked at the clock above the door, it read 12:48 am.
"What? How- how long have I been sleeping? What's going on??"
"Oh dear. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but- it seems your parents and younger brother were involved in a terrible accident. I'm so sorry, but they died before the medics could reach them," she enveloped me in a careful but strong hug. "I'm so sorry. We'll figure something out for you, I promise. For the time being, you can stay with me. We understand you do not have any relatives. I'll leave you alone to think now dear. This is a lot to take in. I'm so so sorry," and with that, Fleur left the room.
I sat back on my mountain of pillows in shock. Then, I couldn't help myself. I smiled. That's what they get. Huh. Talk about irony.
