“Thank you,” Krystal sat across from Justin, eating her dish of ice cream, “For bringing me out today.”
He let a small smile adorn his face, “There's not too much I could've done to stop you if you really wanted out.”
She didn't speak for a moment as she looked down at her ice cream, silence enveloping them for a moment, “You don't trust me, do you?” She met his gaze again.
“You don't trust me either,” He stared intently into her eyes.
“Ty was right, ya know,” She sighed, “If I wanted you all dead, I could do it. No problem. What Ty doesn't know and what Ty was wrong about, is that I'm not the enemy. I do, however, struggle with the thought of my loyalty switching sides so easily. That's not who I am, nor who I've ever been, but I guess certain things happen in life that just push you to make decisions that change who you valued in yourself,” She licked her lips, but continued to stare into his eyes, “You wanna know why Jerome was so ready to let me out? Why he was so quick to keep it a secret from everyone in the group?”
“Why's that?” He was listening intently to her every word.
“Because he's terrified of me. He's terrified for his life and he's terrified for his gang. They expended a lot of energy giving me everything I asked for under Jerome's rule, but none of them know who I used to be. Not even Dee. If he had, I guarantee he never would've treated me the way he did.”
“Then why did you show me? Why did you let me know what you're capable of?” He pushed his dish of forgotten ice-cream off to the side, only interested in one thing at the moment; only interested in the words she was speaking and the meaning behind them.
“Because everything from my old life was a lie. Dee didn't really love me and that was the only real reason I stayed, besides the fear of being alone,” She shrugged and dropped his gaze, “And Jerome figured if he kept me happy and hidden, if he kept giving me what I wanted, I'd never try to take the power away from him. He was loyal to me because he's afraid of me. So,” She met his gaze, “What I need to know from you, Justin Bieber, is why did you want me? What did you want me for?”
“Truth?” He leaned his elbows on the table and she nodded, telling him she wanted the whole truth and nothing but, “At first, I watched you for a few days and I truly thought you were beautiful, but my main reason for taking you is because I wanted to prove my power. I wanted them to know, that I could get to even their most prized possession and I could take her. Then, after you were there for a day, I generally started to want you. I started to see what was so special about you.”
“I appreciate the honestly,” She nodded once, shoving another spoonful of ice-cream into her mouth, “I wanna know what you want me for now, Justin. Why am I still here?”
“Maybe you should ask yourself that, considering you can obviously leave at any time,” He raised his eyebrows towards her.
She let a small smile adorn her lips, “You're not ready for that answer, Bieber. Besides, you wouldn't believe me anyway.”
“Try me,” He gave her a challenging look.
“Why do you think I haven't left?” She ran her freshly manicured hand through her hair, brushing it out of her face.
“I dunno,” He shrugged, “That's why I'm asking you.”
“Because,” She paused to lick her lips, “I'm falling in love with you. You treat me better than I've been treated by anyone for a long while. Which is kind of funny, considering you're my captor.”
He swallowed and motioned down towards her ice-cream, “You done?” She nodded and began to stand, grabbing both of their bowls and throwing them into the trash can as they made their way out of the ice-cream Shop. He stopped her from heading towards his Range Rover by taking her hand. She gave him a questioning look as he smiled and lead her to an opening where you could look out towards the ocean.
“You never answered my question,” She stated after they stopped and were standing, staring out at the ocean, “What do you want from me now?”
He chuckled and turned towards her, wrapping his arms around her waist, “Dance with me,” He whispered.
“There's no music,” She frowned. He shook his head in disbelief and pulled her towards him as he began to sway them back and forth. He softly began to sing into her ear.
“Girl, you see me standing here,
Standing in the rain, Oh Baby,
Any chance that you could stay right here?
And never go away?
Oh Girl I got a secret place that we can go,
Cause I really wanna be alone,
Baby nobody else gotta know,
Just meet me later on the low,
Don't tell me you're my heartbreaker,
Girl my heart's breakin'
Don't tell me you're my heartbreaker,
Cause girl my heart's breakin,
So, What I'm really tryna say is,
And what I hope you understand,
Is that Despite of all the imperfections of who I am,
I still wanna be your man,
I know it hasn't been easy for us to talk with everyone being around,
But this is personal, This is for me and you,
And I want you to know that I love you,
I know the seasons may change,
And sometimes love goes from sunshine to rain,
I'm under this umbrella and I'm calling your name,
And you know I don't wanna lose that,
I still believe in us,
I still believe in love,
I still believe in us,
I hope you believe in us,
The way I believe in us,
You don't see,
Cause what you don't see is when we don't speak,
I really don't sleep, I wanna talk to ya,
And if I had the world in my hands, I'd give it all to ya,
I wanna know if you're feeling, the way that I'm feeling...”
As the song ended, she pulled away with a surprised smile on her face, “That was really, really good, Jay. I didn't know you could sing like that.”
He shrugged, “It was just something I wrote, back when I still thought I could make a living on music.”
“It was seriously amazing. Do you have more songs that you've written? I wanna hear them,” She gushed.
“Whoa,” He chuckled, taking her hand and pulling her towards a bench about 5 feet away, “I've never sang to anyone before,” He admitted, his cheeks flushing a deep crimson, “I just...I dunno. I guess that's the best way I could think of to be romantic and tell you how I feel.”
She reached up, brushing his hair out of his face, “How do you feel, Jay?”
He put his head in his hands and let out a deep sigh, “You always make things so damn difficult,” He couldn't help but chuckle as he met her gaze again, “I never let myself fall in love before. I could always stop it with everyone else. I, honestly, expected to kidnap you and maybe fuck you until I got sick of you and show everyone how much power I really had by kidnapping you,” He shook his head in disbelief, “I ain't even been going out on missions because I'd rather spend my time with you. And trust me when I tell you that I'm getting a bunch of shit for it. Ryan and Ty have both cornered me and told me how much I'm off my game and everyone in the house is worried that you haven't really switched sides, that you're infiltrating us for your old gang and that you're gonna bring us down.”
“Is that what you think too?” She searched his eyes for an answer, but wasn't sure what she saw in them.
“You want the truth, I dunno,” He shook his head, letting out a deep breath, “I hope to God that's not how it is though, because you'll break me.” He frowned, dropping her gaze and getting angry with himself for admitting these things to her.
“What can I do to prove my loyalty to you, Jay?” She swallowed the tears that wanted to surface. She couldn't really blame him for not trusting her. The situation was crazy and if she were in his position, she wasn't sure she'd trust herself either.
“Stay,” He whispered, meeting her gaze again, “Just, stay.”
She stood, pulling him with her and wrapping her arms around his neck as she looked up at him, “Be careful what you wish for, Jay. Cause you just might get it all.” He leaned down and kissed her lips softly. She had never been more sure of the love someone felt for her than she was in that kiss. He kissed her like he meant it; he kissed her like he needed her. He kissed her like she was his oxygen and he needed her to survive. It was in that moment that she made a choice and knew that no matter what, she was gonna stick to it.
“What the fuck?” Justin frowned as they pulled up at the house. It was obvious that the garage had been broken into. He threw the car in park and they both got out, running into the house and up the stairway. They stopped in their tracks when they noticed the unwanted presences in the room, all of them holding guns.
“There you are,” Dee smiled at her as he held the gun pointed at Ty's head, “We're here to bring you home, Babe.” She looked around the room and noticed that Alex was bleeding out on the floor, having obviously been shot, and Carey's head was laying in a pool of his own blood, a gunshot wound right between his eyes. Her head snapped towards the entrance to the kitchen as Jerome came out with Ryan in a headlock and a gun pointed at his temple. Her eyes then fell to Justin and she saw his stone face, his jaw clenched and his fists ready for battle. She took a step towards them and met Jerome's gaze.
“Why are you here?” She gave him a pleading look.
“We weren't sure how many there were or if you could get out,” Jerome's eyes didn't leave her.
She glanced around the room again at the bodies on the floor before meeting his gaze again, tears threatening to spill from her eyes, “Leave,” She commanded, “Let them go and get out. All of you. Don't come back here. Ever,” She shook her head, “I'm done playing your games. Both of you,” She looked between Jerome and Dee, “If you ever set foot back in this territory again, I'll kill you myself. Get out.” Jerome's eyes found tiny slits and he didn't speak as he motioned for Dee and the rest of his gang to follow towards the stairway.
“Fuck you, dumb slut,” Dee spoke, “I knew you were worthless. I can't believe I wasted 7 years on you. I never loved you. You were just a convenience.”
“DEE!” Jerome barked, “Let's Go! NOW!” Dee shook his head and started to walk towards Jerome as Krystal turned back towards Jerome one last time.
“Tell him who the fuck I am, Jerome. You'd better make sure they all know, because I'm back and anyone who gets in my way is dead.” She was so angry her nostrils were flaring and her cheeks were starting to turn a pink color as the hair on the back of her neck stood up. Jerome nodded once and jogged down the stairway, his lackeys following closely behind. As soon as the door slammed at the bottom of the stairs, Krystal ran to Alex's side as he gasped for breath, “I'm so sorry,” She couldn't hold back the tears any longer as she put pressure on his wound. It had obviously punctured his lung and she was sure he was going to lose consciousness at any second. Justin made his way to Alex's other side, kneeling down to assess the damage. His eyes met Alex's and they shared a silent secret, causing Justin to nod his understanding. It was only a matter of seconds and Alex took his last breath, letting out a cough as his eyes went blank. Krystal reached up, feeling for a pulse and not finding one as a fresh batch of tears streamed down her cheeks. Without much time for thought, she stood, making her way the few feet towards Carey and kneeling beside him as well, feeling for a pulse and not finding one. She let out an angered growl before the sobs took over. Justin made his way towards her, pulling her into a standing position and into his arms.
“Shhh,” He whispered into her hair.
“I'm so sorry, Jay,” She clung to him for dear life, afraid he would blame her for this and she'd be left, “I never meant for this to happen. I'm so fucking sorry.”
“Baby,” He breathed, “This wasn't your fault,” He pulled away to look into her eyes, “Go get cleaned up. I'll be in in a minute, okay?” She nodded and headed towards Justin's room, the tears still falling down her cheeks. Justin ran his hand over his face before turning towards Ryan and Ty, “Clean it up. We'll deal with the rest tomorrow. I want a new lock put on the door and the garage fixed. Hire it done if you have to, but I want it done asap. And you know what to do with the bodies.” Without another word, Justin followed the path to his room and entered, locking the door behind him and joining her in the bathroom. She was at the sink scrubbing the blood off of her hands as the tears streamed down her cheeks when he found her.
“I never meant for this, Jay. I'm so sorry,” She held his gaze through the mirror.
“Listen,” He moved in front of her and took her face in his hands as he stared at her, “I trust you. The loyalty you just showed me goes far and beyond what anyone has ever done for me. Losing people is just a part of the job description and I'll take care of the rest of it, but I want you to know that what you just did? When you looked at them and made the decision to stay? To be with ME? That's forever, Sweetheart.”
“We had to lose Alex and Carey for me to gain your trust,” She shook her head and closed her eyes, attempting to will-away the tears.
He ignored her statement, leaning his forehead against hers, “Now I'm gonna earn yours,” He whispered, “Now, come on. Let's get us cleaned up.” She nodding, allowing him to take the lead as he grabbed her hand, pulling her with him towards the tub. He turned on the water and put the plug in before turning back towards her and lifting her shirt over her head, tossing it into a pile on the floor. He unlatched her bra with one hand and threw it into the same pile. He finished undressing her and then undressed himself, stepping into the tub and then holding a hand out to help her step in. Once they were both standing in the tub, he sat down carefully, pulling her down with him. She leaned her back up against him; his legs falling to either side of her hips as he trailed his hands down her arms until he reached her hands and linked their fingers together.
“If I would've known this was gonna happen, I would've left. I'm so sorry, Jay,” Her sobs had died down, but her voice was still soft and he could hear the regret.
“Stop,” He kissed her shoulder, “You're not allowed to leave me now, Sweetheart. You're mine and I'm never letting go. Just relax,” He wrapped their arms around her stomach, hugging her lightly with his arms, “Try to forget about what just happened and focus on the good that came out of today, Okay? Can you do that for me?” She nodded, leaning her head back against his shoulder and letting out a breath, “I love you and we're gonna rule the world together, my love. There's nothing that can stop us or come between us now.”
