I don't know why I didn't see this coming. My leg, and now I pass out every hour or two. How could the healers miss something so important? I am only 13! Why did this have to happen to me? These were more questions that had arisen during the fateful trip to St. Mungo's after my pass out session at Hogwarts.
"Mr. Potter, may we have a word with you and your wife?"
I could tell he looked at me, I pretended to be asleep though. "Yes, is it serious?"
"It could be, why don't we step into the hall, in case she awakes."
I heard my mother start to sniffle, then she said shakily, "O-okay."
I waited a few seconds after they had walked out to open my eyes to look over to the door. It had a small window, which showedmy mother, father, and healer speaking. I saw my mother burst out crying and my father have tears come to his eyes. "What is wrong with me?" I whispered slowly. It was then I realized that I was connected to a machine with knock-out drugs in it. The bag was empty, so I had an excuse to be awake.
The Healer opened the door back up and said to my mother, "You better tell her while I double check the results."
I felt a pain in my leg as she walked toward my bed and sat down with father wlking behind her.
"Sweetie," a fake smile was on her face, "you're awake." I nodded and put a smile almost as fake as hers on my face. "The healers found something wrong with you again." Both of our smiles faded.
"You have a condition now, it can be cured, but only if you stay here for a few months."
"What do I have?" I was upset that she wasn't telling me straight.
"You're leg muscles are infected with a bone disease. It's happened before but is rare."
"Another summer in the hospital then?"
"No!" I heard a voice yell from across the room. "I can't let them do this to her again!" It was Remus.
"Remy, calm dow-"
"No," he knelt down on the other side of my bed and grabbed my hand, "I can't let them keep you here like a prisoner."
"She will be home in about three months," my mother said, "You two will have plenty of time together, don't worry."
Remy opened his mouth to object, but closed it. He then stood up and he kissed me. I was surprised he did it in front of my father.
Sure enough, my mother was right. After about three months of taking serums and getting an iv pumped through me, I was free to go, but not after about five triple checks on my leg to make sure nothing was still wrong.
The first thing Remus did when I got out was take me for Ice Cream, he ordered my favorite, a vanilla milkshake and tortia chips to dip into it. I don't remember telling him what my favorite ice cream was though.
After that he took me to London, where he took me to one of his favorite places. "If you ever need to find me, I'll either be here or at my own house." He said while putting his hands over my eyes. When he moved them I was standing in front of a Muggle bookshop with the name Noble. But there was a sign beneath it that had srawly handwriting that read, "Barnes And".
I looked at Remus, "They're having sign trouble." He said while shrugging. He walked me in. It had so many books! I could see why Remy loved it so much here.
When he took me home, he stopped me on my front porch and looked me in the eyes, "Promise me, you won't do anything stupid to injure yourself again? I can't live my life without you."
I laughed once and nodded, "I promise."
I wrapped my hands around his shoulders and pulled myself up to his face, smiled, then pecked him goodnight and walked into the house. The stairs seemed like they went on forever because I was so tired. My first day out of my hospital bed was really one to remember. 'I can't live my life without you.' Those words echoed inside my head until I fell asleep.
