-“Evan, take it, this will help.” She said, enlarging her arm towards me.
-“Oh… it’s again that little stone?” I said, with a voice that sounded tired.
-“It’s not ‘just’ a little stone, it is special. It will get us out of here.”
-“Special like this trip?” I asked, in a sarcastic way. I was still mad at her.
-“I’m sorry that things didn’t go the way I planned… But no, it’s a different kind of special. It’s special like… contemplating purple clouds in the sky.” She mumbled.
I threw a glance of disbelief at her, uninterested. My hand touched the cold water underneath the small boat we were floating in. The darkness of that cave didn’t even bother me anymore. I was just lying there… disappointed. That trip was meant to be pure adventure, was meant to make me live and experience new things! But here I was, in the middle of nowhere, just floating away in a small boat inside a gloomy cave… and with the sole companion of Lily, my cousin, a couple of years older than me.
-“There’s something you should know about this stone. Something I never told you or anyone else.” She broke up the dead silence again. “They say this stone reflects what’s inside of the mind and soul of the holder. Everyone gets a different result when touching it... Like a hidden ability of your own. It makes it possible to show up.”
I stared back at her, and asked “And what did you get?”
-“You have no idea…” She said, smiling mischievously. “Please, promise me you won’t tell anyone either.”
-“Why would I?” I replied.
She held the stone with her right hand, and brought it closer to her heart, closing her eyes. Her face suggested she was concentrating somehow. Her hair started shining with a purple glow. The whole scene changed drastically in an instant, since that boring place came to be some kind of colorful show. The walls and every surrounding seemed different, while every single hair in her head sparkled with beautiful gleams coloring purple the cave.
-“What’s this!?” I asked, scared and confused.
-“I told you, didn’t I? It’s my hidden ability. And don’t ask me why or how, but… I already know yours as well. That’s why I said it will get us out of here.”
