When I woke the next morning there was an extreme banging coming from the door. I turned slowly meeting the eyes of Nora, and she smiled. I got up slowly and so did Nora, “Who do you think that is” she asked? I rubbed my eyes, “Who knows, could be Godzilla for all we know.” I slid into some jogging pants, and made my way downstairs. The pounding had never stopped, and as I opened the door I was met by a man. A man that was way to unnecessarily proud of himself, and I could also sense stubborn on him. “Can I help you?” His expression was cold, and as he began to speak it didn’t change. “Yes, you can. I’m detective Morin, and I am here regarding an explosion heard by nearby people.” I nodded, “Oh yes, I am terribly sorry for that.”
We blew down a tree in the back, and we put a little too much explosives on it.” He cocked an eyebrow, “You are?” “I’m Jose Iron. The owner of this mansion, and the owner of this land. You are welcome to call me Iron if you wish.” He started laughing, “You really think I’m gonna believe that you’re Jose Iron.” His smile faded as I opened the door more to reveal the portrait of me, “You may take your leave if that is all.” Before he could utter another word I smiled and closed the door. Nora was standing behind me in a very short robe. That’s what he was looking at. “Don’t you think that robe in way to provocative for you to be wearing in front of police?” She smiled following me to kitchen, “ He was staring at me, and I think that was a good thing because you were giving off many hate signals toward the man.”
I opened the fridge taking out some eggs, “No, those were my morning signals.” She sat down at the table, “Hate is your morning signal?” I nodded, “I hate everyone who wakes me up because of a damn explosion.” She laughed standing up, and taking over what I was doing. She worked her way through the kitchen fast, but swiftly. As she put the eggs in the pan the house lit up with their smell. The morning would have been perfect if it wasn’t for that detective, and how I wanted to make him disappear. I remember the kind of person I was before I was immortal, and as the memories came back I didn’t want to be mortal again. I remember my father talking to me about my powers, and surprisingly I didn’t care. I always knew that I was special, but my powers now were beyond weird.
A phone started ringing, and I looked over to a nearby table to see it. I walked over to it to see the caller ID, and it said dad. I answered it, “Hey, you looking for Nora?” He started to speak, and he sounded panicked. I smashed the speaker button, “You need to come get the kids right now! The town has gone crazy!” Nora moved the eggs off the stove, “What do you mean gone crazy” she asked curiously? “I mean the town is kinda rioting right now. They’re saying that hell is coming to earth.” I inhaled the air, and I picked up on something horrible. Panic, anger, and demonic stench. “Okay dad, we’ll be there right away. Lock the door, and all the windows.” “Alright see you soon.” He ended the call, and I looked at Nora. “So much for a peaceful morning. Beat you to the shower.” I smiled as she took off up the stairs, “You know we could just share.”
