“All present and correct sir said Bob, come on then are you going to tell me about this new bird or not?’
“She’s working for Brian and his dad on the farm. Is she with anyone?’
“Aye I’m afraid so; she’s my girlfriend.
“I bet you another sandwich that she is?’
“You’re on mate; a bird as good looking as her would not be seen dead with the likes of you man.’
Bob strolled up to the van where Adrianna was sitting and asked if she would like to go out with him.
“Oh no; she said sorry; but I don’t think Jackie would approve.’
“Why is that like doesn’t he like his female workers fraternising with good looking men?’
“Where are all the good looking men then asked Adrianna?’
Whey am standin’ reet in front of you darlin’
“No there’s only one good looking man for me and he’s getting in the van right now.’
Jackie got in and Adrianna made sure bob was watching as she gave him a long lingering kiss.
“I think that’s three sandwiches and two cups of tea Bob.”
When Bob returned he asked if Adrianna had a sister.
“Yes as a matter of fact I do.’
“Great can you put in a good word for me then?’
“I would but she is going out with the owner of Wildacre Farm. Never mind, I’m sure a good looking man like you will have no trouble getting a girlfriend.”
Jackie laughed as they drove away.
They drove to the bottom Seatonville Road then onto Rake lane and then turned into Merton Village.
Once back they started on the next batch of fruits which were the blueberries.
Again the punnets were stacked up onto the moveable trolleys.
They were done by three o’clock and Adrianna asked where they were going this time. “These are for Marks and Spencer; the warehouse is in Burradon so let’s get a move on.’
They loaded the van again then headed towards west allotment then into Burradon. They got their receipt after dropping the fruit off and then headed back.
“It was now 4:30 p.m. “now we have time to see if we can cross pollinate our Cherry Plum tomatoes.’
