Jackie was now on solid food she told Cora and he eats like a horse.
You can see that love he looks very healthy.
“Bic,bic mammy pleaded Jackie his arm out stretched whilst opening and closing his hand.
Janice went to the biscuit barrel and handed him a home made cookie then offered the barrel to Miriam and Cora.
“He’s definitely thriving Jan said Miriam.’
My father and brothers spoil him rotten though.
“Well children are made for spoiling aren’t they Jackie, Cora cooed.’
“I have some news Janice.”
“Have you; it’s not about George is it.”
“No we haven’t seen him for over a year now; Thomas doesn’t speak to him
since you know.”
No; the news I have is good; I’m going to have a baby Jan.”
“May next year if my calculations are right.’
“That’s brilliant news Miriam, she hugged her friend again then asked them to keep an eye on Jackie whilst she changed. Jackie dressed in a pair of dungarees. He also had a knitted blue jumper on underneath. He wore a pair of Clarke’s Sandals.
He was happy to sit and chew on his biscuit until Janice came out of the room after changing her skirt and blouse.
“Right I’m ready.’
“Come on then let’s go for a drive in the car eh Jackie said his mother as he held his mothers hand as they shut the front door then headed towards the car.”
Jackie and his mother climbed into the back whilst Cora got into the front with Miriam who turned on the ignition.
They drove to Blyth town centre and parked up the spent an hour buying baby clothes.
Miriam bought two outfits for Jackie and Cora bought him a coat.
Then they went to the beach. Jackie was happy playing with some pebbles on the sand as they sat on the tartan blanket that Cora had used to stop her legs from burning.
They spent the afternoon chatting.
“How is Thomas doing then asked Janice?
“Same as usual Janice it’s the farm; always about the farm.’
“Well you would go marrying a farmer, she laughed.’
