The house that Orbit stopped at was a small cottage that was dark on the inside by the look of it and his face showed worry.
“Something wrong?” Cenri asked him.
“My sister, she should have been home awhile ago.” He stated. Cenri thought about the conversation that they had earlier before responding.
“Didn’t you say that she had just gotten ranked to Beta today?” Cenri questioned.
“Yeah, but what does that have to do with anything?” Orbit asked.
“Maybe she is still with her friends out celebrating. Getting Beta is a high honor.” Cenri tried to reassure Orbit.
“Yeah, you’re probably right. I just wish she would have told me she planned on being out later than usual.” Orbit said as he made his way through the smaller door that they had for when they were in their wolf forms.
“Make yourself at home.” He said as he walked away from her and she hopped up onto one of the couches. In her wolf form she took up more space lying down than her human form would have sitting. In their wolf forms they were only a tiny bit smaller than five feet tall. Her stomach growled as Orbit flipped on the lights and she tried to cover up the sound.
“Hungry?” He laughed. She blushed as he turned into his human form for the first time since she had met him.
He was breathtaking. His purple eyes staring into hers was what she noticed first. He had tan skin and silver colored hair with his cream colored ears tipped with black. He wore ripped up jeans and hunting boots with a baggy gray hoodie. The only thing that seemed to stay the same, Cenri noted, was his wolf ears, eyes, and his tail.
She must have unknowingly changed into her human form as well as she took up considerably less room on the couch and her white hair was brushing against her fair skin and white ears that had hints of pink in them. Her eyes were green with a fleck of orangish brown in one that she liked. She was dressed in black tights and a gray skirt that came down to just above the knee. She also wore black boots and a tan colored sweater.
“I was going to ask if you wanted to borrow some of my sisters clothes if you wanted but I see you’re already dressed fancy enough.” He smiled. “Do you want food by the way?” He asked. She was snapped out of her mind as he asked the question and blushed a little harder for thinking about him so hard in detail.
“Oh, uh, only if you’re planning on making some.” She smiled sweetly. “I don’t want to impose on your house.”
Orbit laughed at her words, “Please, while you’re my guest you are a queen in this home.” He said making his way around the corner and into the kitchen. “Does venison with corn and mashed potatoes sound okay to you?” He called out to her.
“Yes, that sounds excellent.” She answered, making her way into the kitchen as well. She wanted to be near him, somehow his presence made her feel safer. He stood, getting the food out of the freezer and fridge and lighting the stove.
“Do you cook often?” She asked him.
“Sometimes, Alaska and I usually take turns making dinner so we both know how to cook.” Orbit answered her. They talked for awhile longer, Cenri insisting that she help Orbit with dinner even though he wanted her to be as comfortable as possible. He only agreed when she said cooking helped her get comfortable. As they finished up her mouth watered and her stomach let out another growl of hunger. Orbit only chuckled softly and ruffled the top of her hair.
“You sound like you haven’t eaten all day.” He commented.
She blushed, “well, I haven’t eaten all day.” She gave a slight smile. He frowned at her as though he was angered by her words and pushed more of the food towards her.
“Eat then, you shouldn’t do that to your stomach it’s not good for you.” He stated. She giggled at how caring he was for her even though they had just met.
She heard the door shut and as she looked up from her plate there was a girl hanging up her coat and tugging a hat down over part of her face.
“There you are Alaska! You didn’t tell me you would be one this long?” Orbit said to the younger wolf.
“Sorry I was, uh, a little caught up at the ceremony.” Alaska stated in a murmur.
“Is something wrong? Come eat I made your favorite, venison.” Orbit said.
“Thank you, I'm not super hungry though so I’ll probably have it tomorrow too.” She told him. Cenri noticed as Alaska looked up at her she had a black eye and a claw mark near her eye. Cenri winced as she obviously was hiding her injury from her protective brother. Alaska sat down gently like her body was glass and started eating.
“Alaska, this is Cenri. I met her earlier today.” Orbit announced.
“Hey.” Alaska muttered softly. Cenri could tell that Orbit was becoming annoyed with her attitude quick.
“Could you take your hat off? We have a guest.” He asked politely.
“I’d rather not. Who is she anyways? She doesn’t have out markings.” Alaska stated.
“She didn’t have a place to stay so I told her that she could stay here. Now, please take your hat off.” He said again.
“Don’t worry about my hat.” Alaska’s tone got more hostile. With a swift motion, Orbit had snatched the hat off her head and her hair fell back to reveal the black eye and cut as well as a bandage that most likely hid a bigger injury underneath.
“Alaska! What the hell happened to you!?” Orbit growled in anger. This was why she hid her face Cenri guessed, her brother would freak out over it and she didn’t want to worry him.
“I don’t want to talk about it.” Alaska stated.
“If that Alpha hurt you I’ll kill him!” Orbit howled.
“It wasn’t Shamus! He was the one who helped fix me up!” Alaska shouted at him. Cenri sat quietly in her seat watching how the two went at it. They both obviously loved one another but they both didn’t want to see the other get hurt.
“Then who hurt you!” Orbit shouted right back.
“Don’t worry about it!” Alaska growled.
“I’m your brother! You tell me who did this right this instant!” He growled right back.
“I said don’t worry about it! Go back to your dumb girl toy over there!” Alaska growled some more before she took her plate and threw it to the ground, smashing it. She then grabbed the hat from his hand and made her way upstairs. A loud slam of her door echoed through the whole house.
Orbit let out a long sigh before turning to Cenri. “Well now you’ve met my little sister. Sorry you had to see that.” He frowned.
“Well she is quite the sassy type I see.” Cenri smiled, trying to lift his mood. Orbit laughed softly and smiled.
“She didn’t mean what she said about you either, she just doesn’t like me trying to fight her battles so she finds any way she can to get out of it.” He explained to Cenri.
“I figured as much.” Cenri said as she bent down to help Orbit with the broken plate.
“Be careful, don’t cut yourself.” Orbit told her, his caring nature still prominent.
“I’m always careful.” She laughed. Cenri spoke too soon though as her hand ran across one of the plate shards and cut it wide open.
“Always careful, huh?” Orbit said as he turned into his wolf form and licked the wound to clean it quickly. Her blush was harder now as this was usually a sign of affection between wolves. He turned to his human form and rushed upstairs to return moments later with bandages. He wrapped her hand and held it for a little bit longer than usual. She looked up at him and he was staring at her. He let go of her hand quickly though, as he cleaned up the rest of the mess.
“The guest room is upstairs next to Alaska’s if you wanted to get ready for bed. The bathroom is next to the guest room.” He said quickly, a blush filled his face.
“Thank you.” Cenri smiled as she made her way up to what would be her room, only looking back once to see the blush on Orbit’s face.
