"I don't see why I have to go live with a foster family, there are plenty of other kids that would be willing to go, " I told my case worker. I was just coming off the plane, and I had already pleaded and begged for me to stay in Spokane, but it was to no avail. "Jonathon just had to ruin my life by mentioning my name," I complained again. "This is a good start, Kaylee, a good family, at least give them a chance, okay, lots of kids would be thrilled to go to a family." Ms. Blotts told me for the millionth time. I swear she just says that because she doesn't know what else to say. "then send them" I complained some more refusing to listen to her. I was perfectly happy at the children's center with my brother, Jonathon and his two wolf brothers. I knew the real reason he had told my case worker to give me to this family. They were still hunting down the bloodsuckers who were after me. But I didn't care about that, I wanted to stay with the only family I have ever known.
"we're here!! Aren't you excited, just wonder at all the opportunities you have here" Ms. Blotts practically yelled, making me jump. I was not going to be happy about this, but I did wonder what the new family was like. Maybe, they'll actually like me? No, no stop that Kaylee, you've already got a family, you don't need another one. I keep telling myself, but I just can't keep but to wonder.
"Oh my, Leo, their here, their here" I hear a woman screaming as soon as I get out of the car. A heavy set woman (wearing a flowered dress) came out of the house with a little girl (wearing a pink and purple poka dot dress) and a heavy set guy trailing after her.
"hello, dear, I'm Lucy, and this is my daughter, annie, and my husband Sean. My son, Paul, is not here right now, but you'll meet him later. It is so nice to finally meet you, I'm sure you'll make plenty of friends here real soon....." She blabbered on but I stopped paying any attention to her.
"Mr. and Mrs. Lahote, I'm Kaylee's social worker, Ms. Blotts," Ms. Blotts said the minute she could get a word in, stopping Mrs. Lahote's yapping for a minute.
"hello Mrs. Lahote" I said sweetly instantly hating the name.
"oh, deary, please call me Lucy" she said as I was lead into the little house, hah more like a cottage.
It was a small house and seemed even smaller inside, but it looked nice enough, it had that ugly wood walls that you would find in old trailer houses and it smelled musty. Instantly sending a shockwave of homesickness through me. Making me wish more than ever that Jonathon was here with me. Though I know he's missing me even more, since he'd imprinted on me.
"this here is your room, dolly," Lucy said snapping me out of my reverie.
"oh, umm thanks"
"Well, I better let you get situated Kaylee, call me if you need anything" Ms. Blotts said, walking out the front door which was only like six steps from my room, actually I wouldn't be surprised if the entire house is more that ten steps along.
"ok, deary, I'll let you be, come on Annie, lets let her be for a minute" Mrs. Lahote said, surprising me that she wasn't going to try talking to me. I walk into my new room and set on my new bed sighing and wondering how long I'll have to be here.
