I stumble down the stairs and rub the sleepiness from my eyes. It's four o'clock in the morning. I know I shouldn't be up. But neither should she. When I woke up, Charlie wasn't beside me. I can't sleep without knowing she's safe. That she'll be in the same spot she was last night: in my arms.
I pad into the kitchen and shake my head smiling. She's passed out in the kitchen chair. There's a notebook and pencil in front of her. She must have fallen asleep while writing. I walk over to her and stroke her cheek. Her breathing is slow and quiet, sleep ruling over her.
I pick her up bridal style. She mumbles something and turns, almost making me drop her. I hold her to my chest and press my lips to her forehead. She mumbles again, but this time I can hear what she's saying.
"So goodnight moon and goodnight you. When you're all that I think about, all that I dream about. How'd I ever breathe without a goodnight kiss from you.". I smile at the lyrics she's singing.
I trudge back up the stairs and place her in the bed. She tosses and turns. "Lukey?", she murmurs. I press a kiss to her lips.
"Shh. Go back to sleep, sweetie.", I soothe. She grabs my hand and pulls it towards the bed. I lay down beside her and wrap my arms around her as she snuggles close to me. I lay my head back and try forcing myself not to worry about her disappearing again.
"Morning Lukers.", a sweet voice sings. I open my eyes to find a 5'9 girl sitting on me. She bites her lip and smiles slightly. "Sleep okay?", she asks. I nod and rub my eyes. I don't dare tell her I was up all night worrying and only fell asleep nearly thirty minutes ago.
"What time is it?", I ask. She bends over me and checks the time on her phone. She's wearing a tanktop, so I can see her scar. I gulp and try to smolder my anger. I still can't believe someone would do something so cruel.
"11: 30.", she says, leaning back. I grab her hands and hold them. Charlie smiles. "My moms here.", she says. I nod and pull her in for a kiss. She smiles against it, and lays her body on mine. I groan when she shifts on top of me. I turn bright pink and try to play it off.
She pulls away and smirks. "What was that?", she teases. I roll my eyes and she giggles. "Damn, Lukers. What happened? Was it when I moved like this?", she asks, putting all of her weight on a sensitive spot. I groan again and she laughs.
"Oh. It was that. I might have to do that more often.", she teases. "Just wait until I tell your mom you-". I kiss her to shut her up.
I pull her up with me and notice she's only in a tank top and underwear. I pull out a pair of pants and an Aerosmith shirt. She puts them on and pulls on some shoes. Charlie pulls her hair up and shoves a beanie on her head. "Ready. Are you gonna put a shirt on or...", she asks.
I throw on a Nirvana shirt and take her hand. We walk down the stairs and Charlie is immediately pulled into a hug. It's my mom. They talk and squeal repeatedly. After my fair share of hugging and smiling, I grab Charlie's hand. My mom notices and smiles.
"Are you two together?", she asks, making Charlie turn fifty shades of red. I nod and she hugs Charlie again. "I knew it!", she screams.
We walk over to the island and Charlie hugs her mom. Susan looks tired. "Hey honey.", she mumbles. We sit down and eat the food mom's prepared.
Charlie moves the food around her plate, not looking up. I nudge her with my foot. She shrugs. I rub slow circles on her knee. She gives me a tight smile and looks back down. We talk about our next band thing, a surprise visit to some fans in Sydney. Everyone talks but Charlie. I grab her hand and she closes her eyes, squeezing my hand.
"Are you okay?", I ask once were alone. She sits on the bed playing with her fingers. "Kitten?", I ask. She smiles slightly.
"I like it when you call me Kitten.", she whispers. I sit down beside her and tip her chin up. "Luke, am I a good daughter?", she asks. I nod. "My mom seems disappointed. I thought it was something I did.", she admits. I shake my head.
"It's probably stress from work. It'll be okay.", I reassure her. She nods and looks up at me, biting her lip. "Can I kiss you?", I ask. She rolls her eyes playfully.
"Have you ever asked me that before?", she asks. I shrug and kiss her. She wraps her arms around my neck and I pull her onto my lap. We move in a perfect, fiery sync. "Luke.",she mumbles, breaking the kiss. I take her fingers and press a kiss to them. She bites her lip.
"Can we all go somewhere today?", she asks.
She shrugs. "Anywhere but here. Can we go to a recording studio?", she says. I give her a crazy look.
"A recording studio? How about we go to The Orchard?". The Orchard is a huge garden filled with flowers and springs. Charlie loved that place. She nods and I pull her up. "Come on. Let's go be psychos together.", I say, leading her downstairs.
Sorry for the sucky chapter. I've got a lot on my mind. SERIOUS writers block. See you next chapter. Oh, and Ash needs a girlfriend. Comment on names, age, hair color, eye color, and anything else. Piercings and tattoos recommended.
