She immediately changed. Her posture changed, her confidence changed. She looked terrified. I knew that was one of the girls that picked on her. I followed her when she ran. She made me that promise. And I believe her. I slip into bed in only my boxers. You wouldn't imagine how tired I was.
I hear shouting from outside the bedroom. Mikey and Cal. "Stop being such an ass! God! I can't even sleep!", he shouts. I smile and turn. It's quiet. I close my eyes and try to sleep. I hear a knock at the door.
"L-Luke? Can I come s-sleep with you? I-I'm scared to sleep a-alone.", I hear her voice whisper. I lift up the blanket. Her feet pad over to the side of the bed. She slides onto the matress, facing me. I pull the covers up and rub her back. "That helps. I've got a massive stomach ache."
She pouts. I hug her. She's so cold. She groans and asks for tummy medicine. I stalk off to the bathroom and come back with pills and a glass of water. She gladly takes both. I get back into the bed. "Leaves! Hold me!", she whines. I do. "Earlier today, about my scar...". I shush her.
"You're okay. I don't care about that. I care about you. I love you, Charlie.", I say. She stiffens at the word 'love'. I stare at her. "Hypothetically. I love you, Dawnie.", I say, trying to ease the tension. She nods.
"Yeah. Leaves, I love you, too. Hypothetically.",she whispers. I lean down and press my nose to hers.
"Can I kiss you?", I ask. She shrugs. I lean in and kiss her lips. "I love you, Charlie."
She doesn't say anything yet. Instead she turns away from me, laughs without emotion and says," Hypothetically. Goodnight Luke."
She doesn't even call me 'Leaves'.
I wake up by myself. She must've left last night. I have a killer headache and shit did I say I loved her hypothetically. I'm so stupid! I told the girl I want to marry someday I loved her HYPOTHETICALLY. Idiot. I get up and smell pancakes. Calum is cooking. I hurriedly pull on a pair of jeans and a red flannel. I run down the stairs full speed and into the kitchen.
"Morning Leaves.", Charlie says, taking a sip of coffee. I nod. She called me Leaves. I take a seat by her and grab a pancake.
"Did you just call him 'Leaves'? You haven't called him that since middle school!", Ash laughs. She shrugs and takes another sip from her mug. I steal a piece of bacon off of her plate. She gives me a playful glare and bursts out laughing.
"I think someone has a case of the giggles.", Cal says, pointing the spatula at Charlie. She nods. I steal her whole plate as she calms. I hand her the empty plate back.
"I was gonna eat! Leaves, you need to mooch someone else's bacon!", she demands. I shrug. She puts the plate in the sink and refills her mug. "I wanna go to the record store today, Leaves. Just me and you. I need to show you something." I nod.
"Sure. Guys, we have a concert to play tonight. I got a call last night that in order to stay here longer, we still have to do some stuff.", I inform them. "So we need to practice." They nod, and I go upstairs to grab a beanie, Charlie following.
"Can I snag one of your beanies?", Charlie asks. I nod and look over my shoulder at her, noticing how she's dressed. She's in white, high waisted shorts, a yellow T, and black converse. Her hair is in a braid. She's so...beautiful. That's the only word I can come up with. She smiles and pulls a red beanie on her head.
"Thanks. Hurry! Gel your hair and let's go!", she giggles. I glare at her playfully.
"Quiff. It's called a quiff.", I state. She laughs and lays back on the bed.
"Remember when we would go to the record store everyday? Looking for new records to add to our world collection?", she asks, her voice barely a whisper over all of the yelling downstairs. I nod. I collapse on the bed next to her. I kissed her here last night.
"I missed you. A lot.", she admits. I missed her a lot, too. She was all I could think about our first few shows on tour with 1D. She's my main focus now. "When are you guys leaving again?", she asks.
"Ten months. Or sooner, depending on if the fans liked us." She nods. Charlie stands up and heads for the door. She tries to make her voice quiet so I can't hear her. But I still hear her.
"I guess I better quit hoping you guys won't leave me in the dust again. And that you love my for real. Not just hypothetically.".
