The rain starts coming down more heavily, and people scramble into stores to escape it. I just keep walking. I liked the rain. Crossing the street, I see even more people scramble to find shelter in the downpour. I was getting soaked by the minute.
I walk down the sidewalk and then, slip. The sidewalk was wet and slick. I was about to fall, if I hit my head, I'd probably have to go to the hospital.
As I start to fall backwards, I feel someone catch me.
I look up to see those green eyes and curls that I've been thinking about these last few days. Although, they were wet now.
"Harry?" I ask.
"Alexandra?" He asks. He lifts me up and places his hands on my shoulders. "Are you alright? You're soaking wet!"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I like the rain."
He looks worried about me.
"Alexandra, even though its Summer, the rain is cold. You'll get sick if you don't change your clothes."
"It's alright Harry, I like the rain, I'm fine with being soaking wet." I say.
He shakes his head and takes me back to my apartment. He opens the door with my keys and brings me inside.
"Hot shower and new clothes now!" He says to me in a serious tone.
"A-alright." I say.
I go to take my shower and get new clothes. The way Harry talked to me and brought me back here gave me the feeling that he cared.
As I walk back into the living room, I find him on the couch. He stands up when I enter.
"Why did you not have an umbrella?" He asks.
"I didn't want one. Today is one of those days where I'm down."
"Why are you down?"
"Because, today is the day my parents died." I say.
His face is now gentle. "Alexandra, I'm sorry... I didn't know."
"It's alright, I have a lot of days like this."
"So you're never happy?" He asks.
"Well.... Occasionally." I say.
"That's not good enough. From now on, you and I are going to do things together, fun things. We're going to make you happy."
"Harry, you don't have to---"
"Nope, not a word from you. I'm going to help you. Your parents would want you to be happy." Harry interrupts me.
"I know, but---"
"No 'but's' about it. We're going to hang out and get to know each other better and make you happy. We can be friends."
I smile. "Thank you." I say. "No guy has ever offered to get to know me, or help me for that matter."
He smiles. "No problem, I want to help you."
"Thank you." I say.
"Alright, first things first... Do you have a job?"
"Yes, I'm the manager of my own shop." I say.
He looks down. "How many workers do you have?"
"Two." I say thinking of Jade. She would be there tomorrow.
"Ok, you're gonna have to get them to run your store."
"What?!?! I can't do that, it wouldn't be right!" I say.
"I'm sure they'll understand once I explain the situation to them." He says.
I bite my lip.
"I'm not sure." I say.
"Alexandra, you need to do this, for your own good and for your health." He says
I know he's right, and I nod. Then I realize... How does he know my name?
"Harry, who do you know my name?" I ask.
He looks at me for a moment. "You were wearing a necklace the first time I saved you... It had your name written on it."
"Oh." I say.
I had completely forgotten about my necklace! I didn't know I was wearing it that day.
"You call me Harry, I call you Alexandra." He says.
"Or, you could call me Alex for short." I say shrugging my shoulders.
"Sounds like a deal. So, we will begin tomorrow. Contact your employees and tell them both to be there."
"Alright." I say.
"See you tomorrow."
"You too." I say as Harry leaves.
I contact the girls and tell them both to meet me at the shop tomorrow. I feel a little guilty though...
