"So the bar will go on this side! I'm going to hire professional bartenders who prepare excellent drinks and of course the order of tequila should be getting here anytime soon." Aurora explained as she walked around her backyard. The sun was beating down on us. I was sweaty and tired.
I nodded before taking a huge portion of water from my cold bottle. "What time does it start?"
"Well guests should be getting here after sundown," She replied. "So how are you taking this breakup?"
I nodded once again. We still had to sweep and basically clean the whole house. We listened to music the whole three hours we worked. I sat on a bar stool, tired of all the chores we finished. The sun was beginning to go down.
"Thanks Hazel," She said.
"Your welcome," I reply breathlessly.
"Well! Paul has about thirty minutes to spare before he is off with the gang so!" She began to giggle.
I got the memo and nodded, "Going back to his place?"
"I don't think so. Maybe just in his car," She shrugged. "I've always wanted to try car sex!"
"How exciting," I replied bluntly.
There was a knock on the door. Aurora pranced to the door and opened it. She was met with a tall guy with dark hair. He smiled at Aurora, "Hi beautiful."
"Hi Paul," She giggled before Paul brought her in his tattooed arms and kissed her. I suddenly felt like a third wheel. "Oh Paul! This is Hazel, my very best friend!"
Paul smiled, "Pleased to meet you Hazel."
I gave a half-hearted smile, "Nice to meet you too."
"Do you want us to take you home?" Aurora asked.
"No, it's fine. I'll just call an uber or something," I replied. I didn't want to intervene on their time together.
"Lock the door when you leave," Aurora said as she giggled before taking Paul's hand and exiting the house. I continued to sit on the bar stool for the next ten minutes. I slid my bottle from hand to hand over the counter top.
I looked outside and saw it was dark already. I grabbed my phone, jacket and keys before leaving Aurora's house. I locked the door with my spare key she gave me years back. Calling for an uber seemed useless now. I decided to walk. The sun had barely gone down but the streetlights were already on.
I put my earphones in and turned the music up. And so my longest journey began. I looked at my shoes as I walked. Occasionally, I looked up but I kept my head down. Every time I passed under a pole, I was showered in LED light. My hands were stuffed in the pockets of my jacket.
Suddenly I felt a pair of hands on me. I tried to scream but they clamped their hand over my mouth. Fear welled up inside me as I saw a black van. There were four other guys, they all wore ski masks. I struggled and tried to kick and even bite but they were too strong.
I was thrown like a rag doll into the back. By now my earbuds had fallen out during the struggle. I was panting heavily and before I tried to scream for help, a rag was tied around my mouth. My hands and feet were also tied. I had no idea what was going on. I jumped to conclusions. I am being kidnapped. For rape? God forbid. Or for sex trafficking, even worse.
I cried as the doors were closed and the van began to move at an incredible speed. I attempted to plead through my gag for them to let me go. That I wouldn't say anything.
"Shut her up!" A husky male voice shouted.
That's when everything went dark.
I felt my head roll to the side. A small pain filled groan escaped my lips. I tried to bring my hands to my head before I realized that they were tied together. Realization struck me as I recalled what had happened to me. I got kidnapped. The van, the men and when one ordered to shut me up. It worked.
I immediately began to free myself from my trap. I desperately screamed for help. For anyone to come and help me, free me from this place. I looked around and saw that I was in an empty room. Dust kicked up every time I stomped my feet on the concrete floor. I heard a door creak open. My head snapped to the door's direction
"Ah, you finally woke up," I could see the voice coming from the dark figure. They were masked by a shadow.
"Let me go! Please! I didn't do anything. I won't tell anyone," I pleaded.
"Shh," He said as he came into the light. His shoulders were broad and he was buff. His silver colored hair complemented his pale skin. Those piercing green eyes focused on me hungrily. I saw a tattoo on his tricep peaking from under his shirt. He smiled slightly before bringing his fingers together and popping them.
"You know," He started. "You have some value to me. Your brother, Jackson, is it? Owes me money close to three k. Now he told me to put it on his tab and that he'll pay me later. We made a deal, if the money wasn't paid back in under two years, he's dead. And of course, Jackson being that sly fucker that he is, managed to slip out of my fingers. Luckily I found out he had two very lovely sisters," He stroked my hair and I inhaled sharply. I was completely vulnerable to this mad man who was out for my brother.
I really hated Jackson right now, no wonder he wanted to leave California so quickly, his life was on the line. I hate Jackson for not being able to pay back the money and cowering away to the other side of the country instead of asking my parents for the money to pay this guy back.
"I can get you the money," My voice trembled.
"Hazel, I know you can get me the money," I felt his head next to mine as he spoke, "But as I said before, you are some value to me. You can bring me a great amount of money actually, plus I still need you for something else. You see, not only is your brother on my wanted list, but I also despise him. So I'm going to slowly torture him by harming his oh-so beloved little sister," He caressed me cheek as a tear fell from my eye.
"You're sick!" I said.
He smiled wickedly before clapping his hands together three times. The door opened once again and two men holding guns came into the room. They stood at attention, waiting for their leader's orders.
"Get me Victor Montiery's number," He said.
One guard pulled out his phone from his pocket and dialed a number before giving it to the man in front of me. I only quietly tried to free my hands from the rope tied around them but it was impossible.
"Victor! It's Thomas," He said. "I got a sale for you," he looked at me. "Brown hair, green eyes, scared and a virgin." Thomas smiled. "You'll be here in ten minutes? Perfect I'll be waiting." He hung up and tossed the phone to the guard before they both left the room.
"You're going to sell me into sex trafficking?" I sniffled.
"I did say you can bring me a great amount of money," he said. "You might not be a virgin, but those assholes pay big bucks for those types of girls."
"Please, please, don't do this," I desperately pleaded. "Don't do this, I can empty my collage fund and give it to you, just please, don't do this!"
Thomas chuckled, "I'll be back soon, with your new owner, if he has enough money." He walked back into the darkness and shortly I heard the door open before it slammed shut. The guards were gone as well. I slammed my feet and kicked them up before screaming.
"Someone please!" I shouted. Who knows where I was. I could be in the middle of the desert, in another state, or even in another country. My throat felt dry. I was parched. I started feeling light-headed. I felt myself going under but I tried my hardest to stay awake. It didn't work.
I woke up to the sound of the metal door opening. My eyes burst open and I snapped my head up. Thomas as well as a new man in a suit and fedora came walking in. The man in the fedora held a silver briefcase.
"This is her," Thomas motioned to me.
The man looked at me hungrily. I looked away as he examined me. My eyes shut as I felt him walk around me. He made a clicking sound with his tongue. I closed my legs and tightened them with all my strength.
"How old?" The man in the fedora asked.
"18," Thomas replied.
"Beautiful, she'll make an excellent addition to my collection," The man said. "I'll give her to you for four hundred thousand."
Thomas stroked his chin as he decided. I felt disgusted. Four hundred thousand dollars? Just to sell a human for the pure pleasure of a man? To be a slave for that man? For your 'owner'. Disgusting.
"Deal," Thomas decided.
I felt a pang in my heart as the man in the fedora handed Thomas the briefcase. The man in the fedora cracked the biggest smile. He began walking towards me but I shook my head.
"You're mine now," He said.
"No, no, no!" I shouted. There was a sudden popping sound. I closed my eyes quickly and when I opened them, the man with the fedora was laying on the ground, surrounded by blood. A bullet to the back of his head. I looked at Thomas who was hiding his gun once again.
He shrugged, "I needed the money, did you really think I would sell you?"
My chest heaved violently, "You killed him."
"He deserved it," Thomas said. He called in the guards once again and asked for another man's number. He repeated the same details for the new man as he did for Victor.
"So that's it?" I asked. Thomas turned to me. "You say you'll sell me to get money?"
"Business sweetheart," he smiled.
Suddenly glass shattered all over us. The same popping sound when Thomas shot Victor rang through the empty room.

I stood outside of the SOPRANO warehouse. The whole gang was with me. Calum stood at my side, Michael was in the getaway car in case we needed to, well getaway quickly. I made sure my gun was loaded with enough bullets. We all knew what the goal was. I sent Paul the signal. Michael drove around the warehouse as Paul emerged from the moonroof of the car and began shooting at the windows.
We found a quick entrance to the warehouse and burst through the door. Immediately I began shooting around me. I ducked behind the nearest counter as shots fired against us. I made sure Calum was next to me before we quickly emerged and shot a few rounds. David and Jax were with us as well.
I managed to slip past the kitchen.
"Get the others!" I heard Thomas shout.
A bullet flew past me. I swerved and turned to a ginger haired boy, I pulled the trigger and he fell instantly.
"Let's go!" I told Calum.
"Luke!" Calum shouted. I turned my head as I saw Jax being carried out by David. Ernesto took his place. Calum ran towards me, "He got shot in the leg," Calum said. "Let's go, we have to find Thomas!"
My ears rang as the piercing sound of every bullet echoed through the house. Nevertheless, I ran towards the metal door. I immediately pulled it open and burst inside. I stopped at the sound of a gun barrel clicking. Thomas stood several feet away. He had the gun pointed at me.
He smiled, "Luke, what brings you here?"
"You know exactly why I'm here," I growled. Calum and Ernesto now stood beside me.
"And you even brought a few friends," Thomas added. "Look, what happened to Johnny, wasn't my fault."
"Bullshit!" Calum shouted. "You're the one that called the drive-by!"
"I never really intended to kill anyone," Thomas shrugged.
My eyes drifted to the body that was layin next to him. "Looks like you intended to kill someone," I said.
He looked at the body, "That was Victor, he had it coming."
"Help!" I heard a female's voice say.
Thomas turned, "Shut up!"
Behind him in a chair, with her hands and feet tied up, was a girl. Her brown hair curtained off her face as she looked down at her lap. She desperately shook her hair out of her face and searched for the presence in the room. Her eyes locked with mine as she made a attempt of silent communication. Her green eyes were filled with tears and fear.
There was a sudden round of shots that rang out through the warehouse. I quickly ducked and found the nearest shelter. I saw a dark figure pointing at Ernesto from a catwalk above, before he could get a chance to shoot, I quickly aimed and shot him down.
"Calum!" I shouted.
"I'm good," He said as I saw him hold his hand to his bicep. Blood seeped through his wound as he winced in pain. I quickly called Ashton. "Come around the back, Calum's been shot. Hurry!" I yelled. "Ernesto! Take Calum to the car, I'll be there in a bit."
"I can still shoot," Calum insisted.
"You crazy motherfucker, no you can't! I don't want you getting hurt anymore. Ernesto, take him, now," I ordered.
Ernesto nodded and helped Calum out of the room. I emerged from the hiding spot to see that Thomas was gone. "Motherfucker." He probably hasn't gone far. I still have a chance. I stood up from my hiding space and was ready to leave, gun in hand.
"Please! Help me!" The girl pleaded.
I stopped in my tracks. Dammit, i forgot about her.
"Have mercy, please! They'll kill me, or worse," She sniffled.
"Fuck," I whispered as I turned and ran towards her. I knelt at her side and began untying the rope around her hands and feet.
"Thank you, thank you so much," She said.
I got her off the chair, "Run!" I grabbed her hand and raced out of the room. I picked my gun up and held it in front of me, ready to shoot. My phone rang.
"Where are you?" Michael asked.
"I'm almost there," I replied before hanging up. The girl was breathing heavily, she held onto my arm. I scanned the kitchen to make sure no one was around. I crept out and bolted towards the exit. We now stood outside, the black truck Michael was driving was parked in front of us. I opened the door and threw the girl inside, I followed.
"Go!" I shouted. "Did you call Zelda?"
"Yes, Ashton is taking Calum to the warehouse right away," Michael replied. "Who's that?"
"That's the girl Trent was talking about," I replied. I turned to the girl who was sitting on the far end, next to the window. "What's your name?"
"H-Hazel," She said.
"I'm Luke," I replied. "And this is Michael."
"Are you in a gang as well?" She asked.
I nodded, "Mafia, gang, call it what you want to call it." The drive back to the warehouse was quick. Maybe because Michael was going way over the speed limit and was going in and out of the traffic lanes. He stopped the car and I quickly jumped out even before the car could stop. I ran towards the entrance.
I could hear Calum's pain-filled screams from outside. Zelda was an IV inserted in his arm and was trying to pull the bullet out of his arm. Ashton had his hands clamped around Calum's hand. Zelda was in full concentration and didn't let Calum's groans and screams distract her.
"How is he?" I asked Paul.
"Got it," Zelda said as she took the bullet out of Calum's arm and placed it on a small metal bowl. I squeezed my eyes shut as I sighed in relief.
"Fuck, that hurt like a bitch," Calum muttered.
"Now, for stitching," Zelda said.
"This shouldn't be too bad," Calum replied.
"How're you feeling Cal?" Michael asked.
"Better," He replied.
There was gasp behind us, "Paul?"
We all turned as I saw Hazel standing the doorway. I looked at Paul. "Hazel? What are you doing here?"
"Wait, you know her?" I asked.
"She's my girlfriend's best friend," Paul replied.
"I need to go home," Hazel said.
I scratched the back of my head. Everyone gathered around me, "Look, Hazel, now that Thomas knows you're gone and that I took you, he's going to come after you."
Hazel closed her eyes, "Thomas, he said he has been keeping an eye on me for months. He says he knows where I live, my sister, my family. If he's going to come after me, how can I keep them safe?"
"If you go back home, your family is as good as dead. We need to leave California," I said.
"How do you know he won't just go and kill them even if I don't go back?" She asked.
"Thomas is angry, but he isn't stupid. He knows better than shooting up a random neighborhood, that'll get the police involved and that's the last thing on any of our minds," I explained. "We need to go South, we'll stay in various of our hideouts and figure out what to do."
"So, I'll never be able to go back?" Hazel's voice cracked.
"You will eventually, but right now, if you don't want your sister to get killed, you've got leave them," I replied.
"My parents will probably suspect something," She said.
"We'll have you go home, pack a bag and stage it as a runaway. We don't need your picture plastered on every news station in America if we're on the run," I explained.
"Is there anything we can do?" Calum asked from the couch.
I turned, "I need you to stay here, I don't want you getting hurt, you need to make a full recovery before you can go out again."
"Oh, c'mon Luke, I'm fine," Calum insisted.
"No, you're not. No streets for you Mr. Hood," Zelda ordered.
"Michael, Ashton, Hector and Leo are going with me as well," I said.
Michael nodded, "Don't leave Trent in charge of the warehouse anymore."
"I'm not. Half of you will remain here to be my eyes and ears. I don't want Thomas to come searching through this place, you hear?" I said.
"Good, we leave in the morning. I looked at Hazel, c'mon let's go," I opened the door for her and she stepped out before I walked behind her. This more or less, may be the end of my chase.
