I'm wiping away the tears as fast as I can. "What do you want?" I say, voice cracking.
" Well, I went for a walk and saw a hot girl crying in the rain, so I decided to be a gentleman so I could get laid. Then I realized it was you, and all thoughts of desire left my mind. So what happened?"
"Lina, you haven't cried since you were thirteen. What fucking happened?"
"Nothing! Stop badgering me!"
" It was something stupid, wasn't it? Let me guess: Your mascara smeared, you forgot your lipstick, you found out you have a C in a class? Or the classic: PMS?"
"DAVID CHEATED ON ME!" I screamed, shutting him up. He looked shocked, then(for the first time in fucking forever) serious. He opened his arms out, and I flung myself into them, crying into his chest. "Why?" I cried. He pet my hair down and spoke softly. "Because he's a jackass, and you deserve better."
I was shocked. This is the first time he's been nice to me. " I'm going to kick his ass tomorrow," I heard him mumble under his breath. I laughed, but it lacked humor. " Go ahead, he deserves it."
He raises his eyebrows, then says," I like this version of you better."
I raise my head, and look at him, puzzled. "What version?"
"Bad, out for blood, chill."
" But I'm always chill."
He laughs. "Keep tellin' yourself that."
I roll my eyes and hit him half-heartedly in the chest.
" So, milady. What do you say I walk you home? Don't worry, I'm not expecting to get laid or anything."
I raise an eyebrow at him.
"Much." He says with a guilty smile.
I laugh. " Well, sir, you may."
And with that, he offers his elbow and umbrella to me, and we walk to my house.
. . . . .
When it should've taken us 15 minutes to walk me home, it took an hour. Here are the reasons: He bought me chocolate, ice cream at Walgreens, and rented me a few chick flicks at a RedBox (He actually said he would watch them with me), we walked slower while talking, and I wasn't paying attention to the way we were going, so we got a little lost. All in all, though, it was really fun.
I had just unlocked the door and walked in when he came in, too. I look at him, surprised. "What are you-"
"Chase!" my mom's voice said from behind me.
" Mrs. Adams." He smiled.
She hugged him. "It's been forever since I've seen you. You really grew."
"Thank you, ma'am."
"And I see you and Lina have finally become friends."
"Something like that," I mutter.
" So what are you kids up to?"
"We were gonna head upstairs and watch a few movies in Lina's room," He says, holding up the bag.
She grinned. "I'll order for pizza and make you some popcorn! Oh, and Chase, I'll call your mom for you. She'll be happy you two are friends!" And with that, she left.
So yeah, that's my mom for ya.
Chase turns to me. " So. Ready to get your girl on?"
I grin. "Totally, girlfriend."
"Don't call me that."
. . . . .
After we finish the second movie, I'm about to put in the next one in when he says, "So what's your revenge plan?"
I pause. "Huh?"
"You know, your plan to get revenge on him."
"Um...I don't have one."
" Well, then we gotta think of one."
"Well... we can take an embarrassing picture of him and hang it over the school?"
He shakes his head. "Too old school. I have an idea."
And with that, we had our plan.
David was going down.
