The Origin of the Gods

After the battle of the Giants, Percy and the Seven lead normal lives, well, as normal as a demigod life can be. On Olympus, the gods are being weakened by a new strange force. Never before seen monsters start appearing all across the world. It's time for a new hero to rise. Without the help of a prophecy or the gods. Carly Rembrandt embarks on a seemingly impossible mission with the help of familiar faces and unlikely allies.

1. The Worst Best Day

Carly was sure strange things happen to everyone. However, she did not expect something as strange as a being kidnapped by a tree or having to run for her life from a creature that should be a myth. The day started off well, her stepmom Lydia (a.k.a the devil) had left to work early. Carly had readied herself for the last day of 7th grade. She put on her bright green T-shirt and some jean shorts. She decided on wearing her blonde hair down. It had grown significantly since the beginning of the year. Last day of 7th grade, she thought, the best day yet, nothing can go wrong. Suddenly there was a loud explosion coming from outside. She gasped and knew she spoke too soon. She rushed to the window to see what had happened. Down below, it looked like a war zone. The entire front yard was charred and where the driveway should have been a crater took it's place. What just happened, she thought. Her eyes widened with horror, "Mr. Redwood!"

Carly grabbed her cell phone and dialed 911. All she could think of was Mr. Redwood, her chauffeur. He had serviced their family since before she was born. When her dad had passed away, Mr. Redwood choose to stay and look after her. He had been waiting outside in the SUV stretch limo that took her to school everyday. Unfortunately, it was replaced by a giant burning hole. When she got downstairs she got a feeling that something was off. She made her way outside to look for Mr. Redwood. There was a rustling in the rubble where the fountain in the middle of the yard once was. Carly slowly moved towards it, "Mr. Redwood?" She was a few feet away when something jumped out. Carly shrieked. She sighed when she saw it was just a cat. Carly turned toward the garage to continue her search when she heard the cat growling. Furrowing her brow she turned around. The cat seemed larger, three feet and it kept getting bigger. The growling turned into a roar-and was that fire coming out of it's nostrils? Without a second thought Carly's instincts screamed, Run! She turned and ran back into the house. The cat, now a full eight feet with wings and three heads, charged after her. She headed straight for the stairs when a hand grabbed her and yanked her into a closest under the stairs.

"Carly, be quiet", the voice said in the dark. "It's Mr. Redwood".

Carly gave a sigh of relief  to hear him and see that he was okay. Well, maybe not see him since it was dark. "What is going on?"

"Carly, everything you think you know is about to change", he said breathing heavily.

"What is that thing that was chasing me?"

"That's a Chimera. Never seen one go after a young demigod before..."

"Wait", Carly said abruptly. "What are you talking about? A chimera? Like in mythology?"

"Yes, yes", Mr. Redwood exclaimed. "I will explain it to you once we get to safety".

"What did you mean by 'go after a young demigod'?"

Mr. Redwood was about to answer when the stairs above us were torn off.

"Carly, run!"

Carly didn't hesitate for one moment. She kicked the closet door open and ran for the back door. She checked behind herself to see if Mr. Redwood was still there. As she looked back she caught a glimpse of the creature. A lion like creature with three heads, a lion as the main one, a goat head sticking out from the back of its neck, and a snake for its tail. It's wings seemed to be like eagle wings. The most frightening feature was that it could breathe fire. I regained my focus on staying alive and kicked open the back door. Lydia was not going to like what I did to the house, Carly thought. Once  she was out she ran towards the woods. She was about halfway there when she realized that Mr. Redwood was still far behind.  She stopped and started to run back when a voice shouted, "Keep going! I'll distract him!"

Carly hesitated for a moment, she thought, this was definitely my worst day ever. Before she could realize her mistake in hesitating, the chimera had spotted her and charged. It stopped suddenly a few yards from her and turned around. That's when Carly noticed sticks, rocks, and coffee containers being hurled at the chimera. Mr. Redwood shouted at the monster, "Come over here! Here's a nice, juicy, over-caffeinated satyr!" Just then he reached down and pulled off his pants. She yelped and turned around thinking she has to add this to things she wishes to be unseen. She ran to the edge of the woods and waited for Mr. Redwood. Carly could see something strange about Mr. Redwood, he was jumping around dodging fire blasts. She looked down and saw shockingly that Mr. Redwood had furry legs and hooves. What had he said, a juicy satyr? She tried to dig through her mind as she tried to remember what a satyr was. She was too deep in thought to notice a figure behind her, moving in on her. Before she could react the figure grabbed her and pulled her back into a tree. Not just backing into it, literally into the tree. Everything went dark and that was the last thing Carly remembered.
