I walked in the house and my brother was already there with a group of guys, all of them were in the kitchen. Pushing my way past them I finally reach my room and shut the door. I turned on my radio to try and drown out the sound of the outsiders. Pulling my homework out, I laid on the floor and started work on it, when out of nowhere I heard a voice. "You don't have a bad music taste." I turned around and saw a boy standing by my door. I didn't know how he was or how he got the door open without me noticing. As if he could sense my confusion he continued, "I'm Thomas, my older brother is Sean. He is friends with I'm assuming your brother."
I just stared at him for a moment before speaking, "I'm Sam..." He smiled but said nothing so I continued, "Why are you standing in my room, I thought I had the door closed."
"Oh yeah about that sorry, I heard the music and wanted to see who could be listening to it. Since all they play is rap downstairs." He said with an apologetic smile.
"Oh... Well I have to get back to this." I replied motioning to the papers on the floor.
He walked into my room more and begun "Well could I stay in here with you?" I didn't know what to stay as he continued "It's crowded down there and you have a better taste in music then they do. Plus I might be able to help you."
Staring at him for a moment I finally spoke "I guess you can stay but won't they notice that you’re gone?"
"No, they probably won't notice until my cousin, Zach, comes to pick us up." He stated as he sat down next to me. "So what are you working on?"
Shocked at how close he was sitting next to me I stuttered "J-just Algebra."
My heart started racing when he leaned over me a grabbed the paper, "Really?" He said shocked "You look younger than a freshman."
"That's because I am." I stated while gently grabbing my paper back. "I-I'm only in 7th grade."
"What? Really? I am too." He almost shouted in surprise, smiling. For the next two hours we sat in my room and did homework, then talked about music, and a lot of other things. We heard a honk outside and there was a truck sitting outside my window. Smiling he said "Well that's my ride. See you around sometime?"
"Yeah see you around." I said as he ran out of the room. Over the next six months Thomas would come over occasionally with the group, whenever he did we'd sit in my room listening to music and get to know each other better.
