Ella and Ezrah numbly walked to his car, a feeling of dread in both of their stomachs. Ella stared outside glassily, as if accepting her fate. She was scared. She was nervous. She was excited, and happy and it all felt like a death sentence. A few minutes later, Ezrah pulled his car up on the side of the highway and parked. He sighed deeply then turned to look at Ella.

"Ready?" his face was grim. Ella nodded but Ezrah didn't move.

"Ready." She confirmed, half lying and half telling the truth. They moved to get out of the car and stood, leaning against the red doors staring at the wood. Ella slipped her hand into Ezrah's. It felt like a death sentence, though it was of her own will. Ella didn't know why, but she felt like she wouldn't come out. Together they took their first few steps into the woods, and further and further into the woods. An owl hooted, and Ella jumped nervously into Ezrah who flinched, eyes wide.

They stepped closer together as a breeze whooshed through and around them, leaves shook and rattled and Ella could almost swear that things were moving around them. Something ran behind them, the breeze off of it hit them, Ella turned around, then turned back.

"Did you see that?" She whispered. Ezrah nodded, petrified. Then suddenly, they both froze as something slithered up behind them, slowly, and grabbed their feet. Ella screamed.
