Diary Of An Awkward Teen

This is my entry for the year-round diary competition. This is a time I don't want to forget, as high-school begins in a middle school building and adulthood is less than four years away. Besides most of the names, this is all 100 percent true.

9. The School Week

I didn't enjoy Musical Theatre for several reasons. When I found out it was actually supposed to be fun, I finally spoke up. On Tuesday, I told the school counselor why I didn't like it there, and she agreed to move me to a different class. Although I continued Musical Theatre for one more day, I started in art on Thursday. It was confusing, but also fun.

We do A days and B days here, meaning that periods are longer, and depending on the student, different. Unlike A days, I do Earth science and art class on B days.

On Wednesday, the A day schedule was the same. I went to library and astronomy again.

On Thursday I went to art for the first time. This was the class I'd dreamed of being in for about a decade. And now I could! I also had a brief visit with Mom, who came to the school for a talk between her, my psychologist, and me.

On Friday, I was a bit shocked when, in 5th period, Mrs. Rankins said we could each request a movie. 5th period was incredibly small--only twelve kids. She took out six of our picks and had us vote on the rest. I was even more shocked when my pick was not only kept, but won the vote! As a result, for everyone who had earned Fun Friday, Star Wars: The Clone Wars was on.

Later I went home. Ammon was already there when I came at two. Another weekend had begun.
