Diary Of An Awkward Teen

This is my entry for the year-round diary competition. This is a time I don't want to forget, as high-school begins in a middle school building and adulthood is less than four years away. Besides most of the names, this is all 100 percent true.

11. November 26, 2015 (Thanksgiving)

To say the least, Thanksgiving did not go well. I was having trouble sleeping the night before, and woke up to a stomachache and sore throat. Soon afterwards, I threw up. I went back to bed, where it took 2 hours for me to fall asleep again.

Three hours later, I woke up at 9, a time usually rendered common for a weekend or long break. After playing a Wii game called Pokepark 1 with Ammon for a little while, I fell asleep again and woke up at 12.

Soon after, Mom came upstairs from her bedroom. She announced it was time to go to Selena's house. Earlier, she had invited us over for Thanksgiving dinner. Thinking I could suck up any apparent illness, I got into the car with Ammon and Mom.

We arrived, and we went downstairs to watch TV. I came upstairs to realize the symptoms kicking in again. I had a stomachache, and my throat seemed to switch between sore and icky. I ended up laying sprawled out on the couch, almost motionless at first. During the feast, I only ended up eating a little and saving the rest.

Finally, Mom took me home, where I took a two-hour nap in my own bed. She left to join Ammon and the others, and came back at 9 P.M.

After brushing, cleaning my retainer, and washing my face, I went to bed for the night.

The next morning, I woke up again at 8:45 and felt a lot better. By evening, I was excited to go to Sean's house, where he was inviting everyone to come for a late Thanksgiving celebration. When I asked him why he didn't do this the day before, he said it was because some people had family to visit on the actual holiday. I sung 5 songs during the proceeding karaoke session and ate two platefuls of food during the feast.
