I wake up to find my head on Harry's shoulder, sunlight is streaming through the windows. Harry's still asleep, so quietly I wiggle myself out from Harry's shoulder without waking him, get clothes and other toiletries and head off to the bathroom. I change into workout clothes since I decide to take a run outside today to get some fresh air; I change into a purple Nike shirt, a comfortable pullover black sweater with a neon Under Armour logo on it, black yoga pants and some tennis shoes. I put on a bit of lip gloss and pull my hair into a loose, low side pony with a neon yellow headband.
I slip out of the bathroom, put on a watch to track my time, and scribble a note for the boys so they don't start worrying where I've gone. I quickly jot down a few words on a piece of paper:
Good morning boys! Just decided to go out for a jog. I'll be back in a few minutes, maybe half an hour at most.
I put it on the kitchen counter where it can be easily spotted and then head out. When I get outside, it's freezing cold and the wind picked up, chilling me through my bones. I stretch a bit and then start at a jog, keeping to the sidewalks.
I don't exactly know where I wanted to jog to. I just kept fairly close to the hotel, not straying off too far but still exploring the streets. I passed a few morning cars and red double-deckers, finally stopping at a park to rest. Almost ten minutes passed. I plopped down on a park bench and caught my breath.
I jump and turn around to see a boy my age, maybe a few years older, with light blonde hair and sharp blue eyes. He smiled kindly down at me. I stood up quickly.
"Um, no...just taking a jog."
The boy nodded. "Where are you jogging to?"
"Oh, um, just jogging. I'm not going anywhere in particular."
"Mind if I join you?"
"Oh! No, not at all," I say. I can practically feel the awkwardness in my voice. I start jogging at a slow pace and he jogs with me.
"So, you around here?" He asks, giving me a penetrating stare as I jog. I cough awkwardly.
"Uh, yeah. Well, I don't live here, but I'm staying in a hotel not far from here."
"What's the hotel called?"
Okay, this is weird. "Novotel."
He nods and smiles. "Cool."
We jog around for a bit. "I think I should be heading back," I say abruptly. "People are going to start worrying about me."
"People?" Asks the boy curiously.
"Oh-just friends," I respond quickly.
"Ah, I see," said the boy. "What's your name?"
"Alys," I reply.
"I'm William. Well, it was nice to meet you, Alys. I hope to see you soon?"
"Of course," I lie. The boy was creeping me out. "Well-I'll see you around, then.
William smiles. "See you."
I smile back and turn the other direction, back to the hotel. Ten minutes later I get there and head up to the suite. The boys were lazing away on the couch. Harry jumped up and smiled when he saw me.
"Alys!" He said, giving me a tight hug. I laugh and hug him in return. "The boys and I were getting a little worried since you were a bit late."
I roll my eyes. "Sorry for being late, mum," I say. Me, Harry and the boys all laugh.
"You guys need breakfast?" I say, heading over to the kitchen.
"Are you serious? Niall was grumbling about how hungry he was the whole time." Joked Liam. Niall smacked Liam on the arm and went red.
I boiled water and put some tea bags in for the morning tea and then cut fruit and baked homemade croissants. I put everything out and the boys dived in. "This is delicious," said Niall through a full mouth, biting into his croissant.
"You think everything's delicious when you're hungry, Nialler," commented Liam, observing Niall eating his croissant. Niall rolled his eyes and smacked Liam's arm again. Louis and Harry laughed, I couldn't help but smile.
I cleaned the dishes and cups and then we all decided to take a walk outside, despite the cold. The boys changed into their sweaters and then we all headed out.
The temperature had warmed up a bit since my jog, but it was still a bit chilly. We walked around the sidewalks and talked and laughed when I bumped into something, hard. I stumbled backwards and Harry caught me in his arms.
"Thanks," I mumble, holding my side where I felt ringing pain. I stand up and out of Harry's arms, and look right at William.
"Alys!" He says, and with his arms outstretched, gives me a hug. Then he releases me and I stumble backwards again, surprised. Harry leans down close to my ear and whispers, "Who is this guy?"
I was about to reply but William cut me short. His bright blue eyes were shining. "I just met her." William squinted at Harry and then at the other boys, then shook his head and scrutinized at them again.
"I don't believe it...am I seeing One Direction?" He asked excitedly.
Harry ran a hand through his hair. "Excuse me, but we really must hurry-"
"My name is William. And, by the way, I got this for Alys."
He took out a bright red rose out of his coat and held it out to me. I stared at him, then turned to Harry. He looked angry but it looked like he was doing all he could to keep it in.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, William, but we really have to go." With that, Harry turned his heel and walked away. Me and the boys had no choice but to follow. I turned around to see William again, he was looking sorry and dumbstruck, still holding the rose. I felt so bad for him, but nevertheless we slipped away and back into our suite in Novotel.
Harry didn't speak as we got back. The boys looked genuinely worried for Harry, but I shook my head. I felt that Harry would need his space for a bit. We all slumped down on the couch in the living room, and Harry walked to our bedroom and shut it without saying a word.
"Harry's really on a temper," said Louis quietly. We didn't say anything for a while, so it became silent. Niall couldn't bear it anymore and turned on the television to watch soccer. Halfway into the game, I stood up and decided to check on Harry. I knocked softly on the door and went inside, closing the door behind me. Harry was sitting on the edge of the bed, looking down at his hands, which were twisting nervously in his lap.
"Hey," I say quietly, sitting down beside him. He doesn't acknowledge me. I sit there but all he does is watch his hands. I clear my throat and make a move towards the door. He probably needed more time. As I was turning the doorknob handle, I heard a "wait, Alys." I turned around. Harry's piercing green eyes softened up as he looked at me. He motioned for me to sit by him.
"Alys..." He started, now his hands running through his hair.
"What?" I whisper.
"William...I'm bothered. He...he would look like a guy you mentioned before."
I shook my head. "Who..."
Harry signed. "Damen. Damen Welshfield. He looked like what you described."
